147. All Things Bright and Beautiful
Text: Cecil Frances Alexander
Music: 17th cent. English melody; arr. by Martin Shaw
Tune: ROYAL OAK, Meter: 76.76 with Refrain
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Refrain:
All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
the Lord God made them all.

1. Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings.
(Refrain)

2. The purple-headed mountains,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky.
(Refrain)

3. The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
God made them every one.
(Refrain)

4. God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well.
(Refrain)
My favorite hymn ever from childhood!

Ok, so this is me, the little ol' City Slicker, livin' in the country who is a little late and just read this thread. I must say I enjoyed it. You all are so creative. I haven't noticed what I have been "rated" as based on posts, but I read much more than post here :) My family is just getting started on all of this ss stuff and we are loving this forum. :love

All Creatures Great and Small?

Sort of a James Herriott thing! :D
I'm kinda partial to this one, Aly, what do you think?

I loved the PBS series, it was just such a nice story line and the area it was filmed in is something I dream of living in. I could grow old and die in Cornwall or Devon. It is absolutely beautiful!

It works for me!

Funny story, too...at one time we had talked about making our farm a sort of petting zoo. Before we had decided on the name Hobby Farm Treasures, we were GOING to be All Creatures Great and Small

:thumbsup

Wow, that was fast! I just got up to make some pizza from lacto-fermented dough, made with freshly ground hard red wheat with a bit of "heritage" kamut thrown in, sea salt and fresh kefir whey from raw goat's milk. Homemade sauce from our own garden produce and herbs, and homemade sausage (purchased pork....next year, our own, hopefully!)

So why "Food Guru?" Makes no sense to me.....:D

Thanks! :p
