What she said...I have had to do it a few times and have to work so hard to bring up the attitude to be able to get the job done. In my younger years I was alot more able, and it was hard enough then...but it seems as I get older I am getting that much softer.Wannabefree said:I am too. :/ It does NOT get easier, I don't care what others say, it doesn't. I have had to put a few chicks down, and it always is horrible, and I'm never attached to chicks, rarely to chickens. To me though, it's still a life, no matter if I was close to it or not. Death always just sucks. I'd hate to be the type person that it honestly doesn't bother at all though. I don't want thicker skin, if it ever doesn't bother me, I will get rid of all my animals because I will have become too callous to properly care for them. I think it's normal to hurt over having to put animals down.
I think you're right, WBF. (DH kept saying, "Hey, you did what had to be done. It was better than having her suffer." But I still bawled like a baby & kept apologizing to her.)Wannabefree said:I don't want thicker skin, if it ever doesn't bother me, I will get rid of all my animals because I will have become too callous to properly care for them. Yes, its not easy but necessary. I dont know of any other way to do it, and I have had to cull chicks too.i_am2bz said:Thanks, BB. How do you do it for health reasons...? Same as for processing?
