My MIL Rachel is a great person....we get along fine.

She helps me wash eggs when I get buckets behind. Soap biz takes up so much time that I fall behind on egg washing and she always comes over and helps when the load gets big.

I was boxing soap for a customer and boxing eggs for the same store and had to run into town to make my delivery......Rachel was in my egg room washing eggs.

I went in and wiped a bunch dry and put them in the carton and we were chatting. I put the cartons in the fridge and came in and said I was giong to hit the road for my deliveries.

Well----she starts hyperventilating and breathing all freaky......patting herself on the chest. Eyeballs got wide too....UGH---I was scared. She walked to the kitchen for a drink of water and when she raised the glass her hand was shaking so much it was wild. I never saw a hand shake like that. She recovered fast....all the while me saying, should I call 911, is it your heart? But she came down ya know....saying that this has happened before and will happen again she is sure.

What?
Hmm...she said the Drs can't find any reason for this and she said it has happened more lately. Ugh

I said go chat with the Dr. again...better safe than sorry.

It was scary definitely. I said stop the eggs, go home (she lives 2 mins down the road) and rest...nope, she wouldn't. wanted to finish the eggs for me.

Tony came a bit after from the barn and I hit the road, saying Rachel was sick, help her tons and get her home fast to rest.

She overworks herself in farm work her whole life. Believe me this almost 70 yr old woman can work me under the table out in the fields at harvest time...but it is taking a toll on her. I see it.

So I am happy again to say---we are downgrading. I am putting at least 100 chickens in the paper on Thursday. With them gone, I can handle those eggs easily and not have to have Rachel work so hard. She wants to help but it is time to make sure that work doesn't get to her, ya know. Time to shut 'er down basically.

So Tony and I chatted and one more year all the while slowing down and then no more farmer markets for us. After almost 14 years doing this in total, we had it..LOL

Not worrying about farm income or $$--just to grow our own and exist.

Woof! Health is key people. Never and I mean never push yourself so hard your health suffers. I won't be doing it.

That almost sounds like panic attacks. Poor woman! That's neat that you 2 have such a nice relationship. Also great that you can scale back when you see it would help. I think it's so easy to get sucked into bigger and bigger operations and that it takes guts and wisdom to know when to cut back.

Is she on any medication? Sometimes multiple medications will cause reactions like that. I would make her go to the doctor for a good check up. Often older folks will just deal with thing instead of going to the doctor.

Scary.

Yikes is right.

I didn't know she had this problem. It sure took me by surprise. But she said is happens alot. Hmm???

oh yes she will go to a Dr. She was in a small car wreck a bit back and fractured a part of her back. The Dr. says it has collapsed and is squishing itself...she has to go to a specialist for evaluation on how to handle it....so yes, she will be hitting a Dr.

not panic attack that I could see. it seemed truly physical that I could see.

Only meds I think she is on is insulin.

She and his Dad help us so much on the farm. And as we all know that work is super physical. So I know by downgrading I will be taking a workload off both of them also. We don't ask for this level of help, they offer it. They are old timey super hard workers!

It is time. Time for all of us to kick back and enjoy life more vs. the working our fingers to the bone daily time...LOL

I guess we can only see what happens.....

I asked her that and she said no. She said it wasn't a sugar thing. She knows those feelings and actions.

she said it was breathing problem?????

breathing could easily be related to heart.....??

That would have scared me for sure! I know my in laws are hard workers, too. Farmed their whole lives. MIL has panic attacks and has to sit down for a bit and rest. She doesn't know what causes them however. Just too much stress if you ask me.

Anyway, hope MIL is doing better, and that the Dr. is of some help. Keep us posted!

Hey, Chick. Sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope she is better after getting some R&R.

I hate that it happened this way, but maybe that is what it was going to take to get you to slow down more. Plus, like you said; if you slow down, she slows down.

So, here's to more days of putting your feet up and resting a while :thumbsup
