Beans and rice, baby, beans and rice. :D

Seriously, I think it has been about 10 years since I last bought hamburger from a store. Probably about 5 years since I ate one from McD's. I DO like Culver's burgers, though! Wish I could get the kids to stop choosing burger-based or meat-based meals on their once weekly school lunch. Gak!

All I know is that I feel so much better and I am so much healthier since I stopped eating meat. Now when I think about it, the idea is disgusting. This article really seals the deal.

Those who want to eat pink slime, please continue to enjoy your fast food burgers.

I will eat my whole grains, veggies, and beans.

OK you non meaties
open wide, insert steak---

I love meat --but I like MY FARM meats. Seriously, the stuff on the market today is just scary....well heck most foods on the market today are scary..HAHA

UGH---at least when I eat my meats I know I raised them. Now off for some sausage this morning---my hog of course

LOL

I noticed even though I am a meatie gal, I am tending to eat less meat.

Do you think as we get older (and I am) that our diets just change? I noticed things I loved before I don't like as much, etc. I don't eat as much meats, or my steak portion is way smaller than it used to be. I c an't eat a big portion of meats anymore, but I still like my smaller one..lol

hmm....

Maybe if I had a cow in my back yard I would consider eating meat, but most of us don't have room!:)

Since my options are what I can get at restaurants and supermarkets, I think I will stick with my beans. I could buy organic grass fed beef but I would have to give up electricity to be able to afford it. So, beans are a clear winner for me.

I agree that farm meat is a cow of a different color.

yea grass raised beef is expensive.....way back when we had like only 4 Angus and were breeding up the herd, I wanted to eat one and get off store bought meats. But FIL said no, he wanted to breed these heifers and I couldn't eat one..LOL......so I checked online for buying grass fed beef and the price and shipping was thru the roof.

that was many moons ago....now I process my beef and when I run out I trade my hog for Barb's beef. (runs a dairy) So now my meat sources are covered which is good.

But I am a meat hound and I eat way less meat I noticed.

And I do feel great---but that could be tons of other factors like eating good veggies from the garden etc.

You are right, you would have to give up electricity for grass fed beef.
I wouldn't be willing to live in the dark either..HAHA

As much as I hate to admit it, eating less meat seems to make me feel alot better also. But for me taste is important so I do love steak on the grill. I guess that is why my portions are smaller now. If I end up a meatless eater I will surprise myself..LOL

Stuff like this is why we buy all of our meat from neighbors we trust and process it ourselves, shoot it and process it ourselves, or in a real pinch buy it from a trusted butcher that only buys locally.
That reminds me, I have to get a roast out of the freezer for dinner this evening.............:drool
