Lotsof work going on around here in the last couple of days. I am FINALLY feeling better...back to my old self and full of energy...thanks gosh, I was almost ready to go to the docs about it:) But all is well and the gardens are starting, I am enjoying the chickens, quilting, and puttering around doing a bit of this and that.
As many of you know we moved here last spring and spent last summer fixing up the house, so this year it is finally going to be time for the outdoors. I don't have a vegie garden as of yet, but I am working on it, right beside the chicken pen.
I planted the first apple tree today, this one is going to be right in the garden at the back. Right now I have caged it in until I have the rest of the garden fenced and ready. I have a couple more apple trees I want to put in but I haven't figured out where yet.

The beginning of my garden beside the henhouse

The chickens are happy, they are getting all the sod I am pulling out...and they will mix in in with the old shavings in the pen so that in the fall it caan be layered back over the garden to compost even more over the winter.

My rabbit pen that I moved over from the other house when we moved. I didn't use it last year, but this year I have lionheads in there to help fertilize the gardens.

And I am also working on a quilt project...Cabin on the lake is what I'll call it for now:)

Great pics :D love your quilt. I have a question for you....... have you ever made a cathedral quilt? the reason I ask is because my Grandmother made one and her blocks were about a 1 1/2 inches so tiny but absolutely beautiful. I would love to find this pattern.

LOL! they are Barred Rocks, BSL's, New hampshire cross (black with the brown head), the white ones are actually a columbian rock x...and yup, a silkie or two, and the brown ones are chanteclers.
Lazyday - are you talking about a cathedral windows quilt? There is a tuturial here:

yes, this is the one the only difference from the one my grand mother made was the center was smaller. When you do decide to make one please post and let me know how hard it would be for a novice to make. I am thinking it is harder than it appears

That particular quilt would depend on how much actual sewing experience you have...not so much quilting experience, because you have to be able to sew a very fine line without wavering. It took me forever to be able to sew a straight line! LOL! So if you sew clothes and stuff now, you shouldn't have a problem. Quilts are really quite simple...that one in particular is the same block over and over and then you just sew them all together. It is the special folding that makes it so wonderful!

I like the fact it is a quilt I call finish as you go. I have pieced a quilt and tempted to quilt it but that is where my experience showed. I
based first but it still shifted and I had to remove all the stitching. I have a greater appreciation for quilting.
