Now, this is how my sister works :) She is learning to can with me, but it tends to be on her schedule. So, I kind of have to drop everything or shift plans. It gets me a little crabby sometimes, but then I imagine how boring and lonely it would be always doing it alone... And all the memories all our kids will have of these days together :)

Don't you just love (LOVE  Moms)! I never wanted a cell phone, Mom bought me one anyway because she couldn't stand it if I was in the chicken pen not near the phone when she wanted to talk to me! She pays the bill so I had a hard time saying no, and she already bought it before she told me to make it harder to tell her I didn't want it. But then again, like all Moms she is getting older, and in her case more needy. And yes, life is always harder on a bad night's sleep.

Farmerchick, My father is exactly like that also. One time I told my father I had to paint the liv room ceiling. Two days later I came home from work just as he was finishing up. I really have to watch what I say around him.

I know, I know. Have fun, enjoy her visit. But next it will be the peaches, then beans, then beets and pickled beets etc, etc and it wont stop til they go to florida. Do ya ken what I am saying? LOL I am already resigned...and thats ok, I am still tired tho.
Can I have your dad???? :) I never had one like that and I've always wondered what it would feel like to have someone want to take care of you like that! Must be like Heaven! :love

My mom tries to be this kind of mom but my dad is a very controlling and not very loving man, so this puts a wrench in it.

FarmerChick, I know its frustrating, but I would give my eye teeth to get to do anything with my mom on a regular basis. Especially before its too late.... :( You all sound like you have wonderful parents! :)

:) I made it!! Tomatoes are all done. It was funny, we both had our ideas for the tomatoes, but remember what was said on here I just let my mother do it her way. They turned out good. I didnt really need tomato sauce, but I will find a use for it. LOL
Like I said, I love my parents. I made their life miserable when I was young by becoming a parent at a tender age. Then continued to give them 3 more grandchildren, until I was 20 when I got smart (like my dad says and got fixed). I tell them I love them everytime I see them. Heck, every time I talk to them. I hug them all the time. They are both retired and tired. My mother has been disabled for at least 25 yrs. My father has had triple bypass. I have the worst of both of them and I tell them that whenever they blame each other for my faults. Stubborness, bullheaded ornery and opinionated. But I like to think I have the best of them also. I may complain (thanks for listening) but I never ever take them for granted.
Anyway, tomorrow we can apple pie filling, neither one of us has did it so we both will be on equal ground, :love.

oh sure I am super appreciative of having great parents and I let them know all the time!

I was a pain in the butt as a young person also...caused some grief in my time.....but as I get older, I sure do make up for the junk I put my parents thru....we are best of friends so it works out well.......I think age makes a difference! As we age, we see just how great those (pain the butt parents then) are ..HA HA

I know my Mom always wants 3 pumpkins on her doorstep for the holidays so me and Nicole took over 3 the other day. Mom loved them. I beat her super early this time to get them for her..---she kinda eyed me and said, I was going to get them, and I said, I justed wanted to finally get you something,....even if some stupid pumpkins..LOL

They never want help from me. Never want me to buy them anything....they give, give, give and ask almost nothing in return....so I do know I got it great!

Guess I will have to tell them tomorrow again..LOL

You're so sweet, I am glad that you still canned tomatoes with your mom and had a great time. I know what it's like to feel so tired and beat down but want to do something with mommy. As time goes by it seems harder and harder to carve out time for our parents unless we have an obligation to them. Pats on the back for smiling and doing tomatoe sauce even though you don't like it. I bet your mom will come up with some peaches soon. She probably looks forward to the canning time. I know I would love to have someone in the kitchen with me when I'm canning.

The insomnia may be from quitting smoking too. And this to shall pass my dear.
