I GET SENT UNDERWEAR FROM FLORIDA!!! And no I dont need any, ESPECIALLY Grandma underwear...
at least i am not the only one!!
she just has no idea just what i really do in a day, no matter what i say. think about prissy little florida old lady suits and gang involved teens! it just doesnt work. especially the cute skirts when a kid has to be restrained. she was an elementary school teacher.
oh well i usually wind up donating a lot of it to a group that helps women who have been abused. then i feel less guilty.

i will get to see her in november when my sis gets married!

You all are lucky to have "helpful" (whether it's overszealous or not) family to help you!

I am youngest of two older brothers. Oldest brother is married. They treat his wife like more of their daughter than me. They've done this since they met her. She doesn't ask for their help often. She can barely stand them to be around. If I ask for help, we're "too far away". But if my brother or his wife need them for something (even though they live 45 minutes further away from them than I do) they'll hope in their vehicle right then and there, or go the next morning. Shoot, I ask a month or so in advance and they just can't seem to ever be able to help out.

I remember as a child driving 4 hrs to help out my grandparents w/ their canning weekends. I loved those weekends, and cherish the memories. My parents don't can. My mom gave me her pressure canner, so that's helpful. But I asked for her physical help for one afternoon. She just won't do it.

I'm just whining b/c I'm sick today and don't feel good at all! It's gonna be a whiney icky day. the "underwear from Florida" post made me giggle though (then sent me into a coughing fit) that's funny!

Heatherrv, I am sorry you are sick. Do you want me to send you some chicken noodle soup...I could send it in the mail......the post office might stop it tho for Homeland Security reasons because of the leakage thru the envelope, :D.

I have five kids that help. A mom and dad that have done enough canning/butchering that they can give me wonderful advice on how to do it quickly.
Don't feel bad about complaining about your mom. My dad called me the other day to order a chainsaw part. I was hanging laundry and had to stop everything,go online and guess which part he wanted. He claims he's too old to learn how to use a computer.(I wish he would learn) So, I hear ya!

My mom came over yesterday so I could help my husband with fence. She was supposed to watch the kids. Well my FIL showed up to help with the fence, so hubby said he didn't need me.

I apologized to my mom but behind my back she griped to my husband that she had come over "and I had got nothing done" while she was here

My mother didn't do any canning with me this or any other year. But she went and spent an entire week going to my cousin's house and canning with her. I wish I had your mother, even if she did get a little carried away :)
