Well, actually you could, but I don't think we'd like it, the head in one direction, each leg and arm in a different direction, and the torso in yet another direction. :hide

I think my wife threatened me with that once. :D

But, I don't think my family would enjoy being migrants, moving from one SS member locale to another.... :D

1) How long have you been interested in self suffiency? A few years. I can't pin in down more than that. It was gradual.
2) Does your family think you're nuts or are they as crazy as you are? Hard to tell what those looney birds think :gig
3) What is the climate like where you live? zone 7. 4 seasons, some longer than others
4) Have you ever had a pedicure? Sure have, and plan on getting one this weekend. I just love them, but only get them once or twice a year
5 Do you prefer cake or pie? Cake
6) What book (if any) made you cry? David Copperfield.
7) What city would you love to see someday? There are far to many to pick from to chose just one.
8) What are you most excited about growing? BOSS. I planted them the other day and I'm excited to see what I can do with them....if I can keep the chickens out of the garden
9) Do you believe in God? Yes, and He believes in me.
10) What's the best thing you've learned in your adventure of simpler living? How much more full and wonderful my life is now.

My turn to play:

1) How long have you been interested in self suffiency? My family has always grown their own food from gardens to animals. You can't grow up on a small farm (as in 12 cows) in Wisconsin without believing in some self-sufficiency. The rule of thumb was that you had to have enough food stored for the animals for at least an extra year, in case of a bad crop year, and my parents pretty much had that attitude with the food we had at home.

2) Does your family think you're nuts or are they as crazy as you are? I used to think that my family was nuts but now that I get it :smack I just keep trying to learn as much as I can from them.

3) What is the climate like where you live? Zone 4 to 5, definitely 4 seasons here in NE Wisconsin, but they don't always seem to go in the right order. Two weeks ago, we had 97 degrees, and 3 days later we had 50.

4) Have you ever had a pedicure? Not very often, but I love getting them, especially when they mean a foot rub. :celebrate

5 Do you prefer cake or pie? mmm, tough one, but my family's favorite is chocolate mayonaisse cake and I love coconut cream pie and strawberry cream cheese pie. :drool

6) What book (if any) made you cry? The Chicken Soup books make me bawl - most recently Chicken Soup for the Catholic Soul

7) What city would you love to see someday? I spent a semester abroad in college, so would love to get back to Edinburgh, Scotland and my husband learned Chinese is college and uses it at work, so we want to go to Beijing and see the Forbidden City.

8) What are you most excited about growing? Right now, strawberries, because I haven't told the kids that they are getting ripe, so I've been able to snack on them all by myself. :hide

9) Do you believe in God? Absolutely!!! I wouldn't have been able to get through the last couple of years without that firm belief.

10) What's the best thing you've learned in your adventure of simpler living? That it's a lot easier to go to the store to buy stuff, but it doesn't taste anywhere as good as when you control the ingredients. That we're healthier because of it. Also, that it's teaching my kids great lessons.

1) How long have you been interested in self suffiency?
Since I scored big time and met a man with a bunch of land and a desire to start farming...except now he's ready to throw in the towel and I'm just getting started!

2) Does your family think you're nuts or are they as crazy as you are?
My mother hates the fact that I'm living as she grew up. Says she worked hard so we wouldn't have to "live this way"

Everyone else just squirms at all the stories we tell. Good thing we have friends that are just like us!

3) What is the climate like where you live?
Awesome. Snow, rain, sun, cool, snow, rain, sun, cool, lather, rinse, repeat

4) Have you ever had a pedicure?
Sure have. Got one a few weeks ago for my 30th birthday! Side note - brown is a great color for the summer so you can "hide" the dirt under your toenails.

5 Do you prefer cake or pie?
How bout both?

6) What book (if any) made you cry?
My son's kindergarten journal

7) What city would you love to see someday?
City....forget that. I'm scared of cities. Give me a mountain, fire and cooler full of beer. Maybe a gun incase the wildlife get frisky and I'm happy.

8) What are you most excited about growing?
My bank account.... HA HA HA HA hee hee hooo.... sigh

9) Do you believe in God?
Sometimes

10) What's the best thing you've learned in your adventure of simpler living?
That I'm terrified of cheese and pretty good with a lazer pistol.

I love this post! It's so interesting to see everyone's answers.

1) How long have you been interested in self sufficiency? Since I was a kid, reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder books
2) Does your family think you're nuts or are they as crazy as you are? They are fascinated by what we are doing. They're all into the whole foods/local foods thing, so they like the fact that I can grow stuff for them.
3) What is the climate like where you live? Cold winters/hot summers. We just moved to a farm with the most beautiful soil I've ever seen, short of what comes out of a bag.
4) Have you ever had a pedicure? Yep, but I prefer to do them myself because I'm a cheapskate.
5 Do you prefer cake or pie? Pie, but I'm not eating either now, since I'm off gluten.
6) What book (if any) made you cry? Recently, Water for Elephants. I never used to cry at books or movies, but as I get older, anything can turn on the waterworks!
7) What city would you love to see someday? Oh, so many! DH is also very "thrifty," and won't go anywhere w/an unfavorable exchange rate, so we won't be seeing Europe any time soon. I would LOVE to visit eastern Europe.
8) What are you most excited about growing? Tomatoes!!!!! I have bunches of different kinds this year.
9) Do you believe in God? Not sure. I say that I'm an agnostic on a good day.
10) What's the best thing you've learned in your adventure of simpler living? Less is definitely more! Especially since we just moved to a trailer half the size of our old place.
