I just went to the feed store where they also sell livestock too. There she was in a tight little cage. Lookin pretty sad. The owner of the feed store is very nice and had her priced to sell.

I have been hemming and hawing about a goat or a sheep and sheep won. I have been waiting for the right one...and there she was!

I ended up trading her for my used tiller and that included delivery.

Soooo, of course I got in big trouble because of the "no more mouths to feed" rule, but oh well. :hu

I named her Dolly.

Are you going to shear her and use the wool too? Do you know much about that? I don't.

Do people milk sheep. I have heard there are sheep cheeses, but I'm not sure if it is common practice for sheep owners to milk them.

Or is she just going to be the lawn mower?

She needs to be sheared. (Her wool is spiral shaped.) Anyway, I do know how to make yarn, but I need to learn how to shear her and also how to clean the wool. I learned how to brush out the fiber and how to use a spinning wheel, that is the easy part. :/

For now, she is to eat the grass.

Yes you can milk them.

Well if you know how to use a spinning wheel, then I would think the rest would be easy enough to learn. :hu

Hope so DM!!

Right now she is going to help us become more ss, by keeping the grass down without using up gas and oil.

To shear you will either need hand shears or electric. Electric are expensive. Hand shears take a lot of time but for one sheep are pretty cheap (under 40 dollars). Premier products out of Iowa is a good place to start. Once you get the fleece off, pick out the stomach wool and from around tail area. you can hand wash in a tub of hot water and dish soap. I like Dawn for this. If you have a place outside to spread it out to dry that is good. Or you can spin in the grease. Not always the best for your wheel but wonderful for your hands. Sorry so long
