I am having trouble sleeping lately too. And the nights have been wonderfully cool here.
I am envious of that winter garden!!

I always have trouble sleeping! That is why I am often on here at odd hours. Too sore to sleep. :( It really messes up what you can get done in a day. I hope you feel better tonight.

The season's are changing. My son doesn't sleep well sometimes. Usually seems to be in Spring and Fall. So when he doesn't sleep, I don't get to sleep either :p
True for everyone but it's worse with brain cooties. Says the not sleeping abi. *sighs*

Anyone know why? Imma go research.

most of it has to do with how our general health, affects our cortisol levels and rhythms.
Which leads of course to how the adrenals are functioning.
If the rhythms are reversed, the sleeping at night is difficult.

off to the fair in a bit, so no more from me for the day :D

Right, but it's not just the lack of sun, since it hits now when we're getting just about the most sun of the year. It's the change into autumn and the change in to spring. SAD stuff hits at the end of winter.

My metabolism shifts. Really really hard. After it smells like autumn, I bounce between hyper and depressed and then I suddenly am HUNGRY. Usually for the first time in about 6 weeks cuz I don't eat much in summer.

I'm asking my biologist :D

abifae: hey mr biology :D why do people with brain cooties have more issues in the changes into autumn and spring?

Joe: lol, seeing as how "brain cooties" have not been scientifically diagnosed, it has never been studied :)

abifae: lol. autistics, bi polars, schizophrenics, depressives.... all report more issues with anxiety and sleeplessness in autumn and in spring. But I cannot find any damned studies.

Joe: but I would imagine that people with ASD would not like seasonal changes as they tend to not deal with changes of any kind well

abifae: there are studies on it for fish. lots and lots of fish studies. on cortisol and season changes.

Joe: the whole body is switching gears, so I would expect auties to have issues

abifae: that makes sense :D

Heh. So there you have it from a phd in biology :D All Change is Bad.

Animals have a metabolic change in Spring and Autumn as well. Especially animals that hibernate. They get VERY hungry and pack on the pounds to make it through the Winter of hibernation. In the Spring most animals shed and many come into season or heat.

I have no idea if these are related ... just an observation. :idunno

So THAT's why I'm so fat! Because I'm constantly preparing for Winter!

Nice dialogue, there, Abi. If only.

Last night was kinda cool, with a nice breeze coming in the window. Unfortunately, I just couldn't shut up my mind. I constantly get songs stuck in there. For the past 5 days, it's been "diamonds are a girls best friend" by Marilyn Monroe. Then thinking about not going nutso with more animals, and getting rid of some of what we have. Concentrating on protein via nuts and seeds, chickens, eggs and dairy. Thinking about how to get my son to start calming down. Settling FIL's estate without me leaving home again. My mother's got a "spot on her liver" and a lot of other health issues.

But ... things are looking up.

And I absolutely plan to get some sleep tonight, even if I have to increase sleep meds! And sleep with a cold wet towel across me.
