Me too, on both accounts! DH is welding away still! Building something to hang him in the fridge now. We got a used (free) double door fridge and ripped everything out of it to use for aging meat. It should work well, but might be a bit small for a bigger pig! Good thing he's not huge!

That's awesome! I have an extra fridge for milk and 'stuff'. We always age chickens in there a couple days before freezing...good for garden stuff too. I don't know how I ever lived without two fridges. But, I don't have one big enough to hang a pig in. Hmmmm....

Oh. My. Gosh. That turkey was delicious! Is, I mean. The three of us ate less than one breast. I overcooked it (bad directions apparently and should have checked it), but still tender and yum! He had a fair amount of fat, which surprised me.

AND!!! A buckling! Problem though, she can't tell who the sire is. She thought her new buck wasn't big enough to reach so she took him out of the pen and put in another buck. But, two of the kids look like one buck and the third kid has blue eyes like the other buck. So she has to find out if she can get a DNA test so he's registerable. I need to hop over to BYH and find out about that. Otherwise, her best Nigie milker had PB twin Nigie bucklings last night. But I want my mini!

Oh yum! I love turkey! DH loves ham, lol. I think I have a ham in the freezer - not from our pig - but an extra one that I bought on sale I think. Soooo, maybe I'll pull it out and cook it for Easter dinner Sunday.

Congrats on the buckling - I guess, lol! Surely she can get the results.

She's super nice, she said she's looking into it today and she thought it might be fun to have a goat DNA test, since she's never had to do it before. Also pictures should go up today, I'm anxious to see him! I think she said he's all black. Or maybe his sisters are. I may have misread that. I'm not a huge color obsessed goat person, so whatever is good with me. I have an all white mini so that might be fun.

We are having roast beef for Easter dinner. Yeah random. We aren't huge ham people, and my mom's favorite is roast beef. She's cooking so we get whatever she feels like making lol.

Really really hoping DH is ready to butcher today! He has a big carpentry job he has to start next week so I want this taken care of first!

My pig is still out there, working on upping the grain bill for me. My husband is awesome, but does not do things on a schedule. Tomorrow is a maybe, definitely won't be Sunday.

No pics of the bucklings yet. Should be soon, she had an emergency quad delivery and didn't have any photo op time!

LOL - It took me quite some time to get mine butchered too. It's kind of funny - the weekend after I took my pig to be butchered - my neighbor says he has time now. But, it got done and Mr. Pig is coming to dinner tonight!

Haha! I try really hard to be patient! But he says tomorrow for sure. We'll see...

I just read this- "less than 2 percent of the population is directly responsible for growing America's food, while an additional 15 percent processes, distributes, and sells the farmer's produce". Wow. That's kind of amazing, isn't it?
