The local lady just got back to me, I'm 2nd on her list so that's not so bad. She also has a yearling doe she might sell to get some new blood on place of. So looks like I don't need to go on the list of the people in MA. Good cause DH was not thrilled with that trip lol. The lady in MA , who the local lady got most her goats from, lol, said her does usually have triplets or quads! Yikes!

And they came and put a ton more insulation in the attic today, yay! We're waiting on a few more things to be fixed still...

LOL - some years it's much better to get males! It makes the decision to move 'em out so much easier!

My husband didn't say no to me getting a doeling AND a yearling...

There is a lack of kinder genetics in New England. Not surprising. We're tossing around the idea of getting a pygmy buck instead of a kinder buck because, they're small, they're easier to handle and eat less, and the babies will be for meat so it wouldn't hurt to have more pygmy. But, pygmies are awful short lol and I'm not the type to go "help" breeding. But the goat pen has lots of stumps and fallen logs and such so maybe they can figure it out? Lol

Congrats on more insulation - always a good thing!

A pygmy buck isn't a terrible option! But, they are vertically challenged and I never had one "get it" with out help... Help usually consisted of just holding the doe at an opportune place - the buck could usually figure out the rest of it.

I should have specified they can't get it so easily with a full sized NUBIAN doe... they have no trouble with their own kind, lol!

Lol! Well that's not too bad I suppose. There is that great pygmy farm in Maine... We're trying to take a family vacation every year in Maine so I'm not against making it also be a goat trip lol.

How tall are kinders usually, compared to nubians? The ones I'm looking at are not F1's so shouldn't be too oddly sized haha

Mine are generally over half the size of a Nubian...maybe pushing 2/3's the size? I'm terrible at estimating that kinda stuff...I need to see if I have a pic...

Yeah DH said I really don't need a doeling AND a yearling lol. Fine! But we're thinking pygmy buck would be good, even if I have to help a little, and would make Patty's babies more solid too. Good plan , I'm gonna stick to it.

Yeah I'd love to see a pic of a kinder compared to a nubian!

I hate this pic because Red is soooo thin but it's a good one to show size comparison. Red is the skinny one closest to the gate. This was at the end of her lactation and she does put it all in the bucket. Cocoa is to her left. Cocoa (F1 Kinder) is the one I lost last summer that got into the feed room... The black doe behind Red is also a Kinder. That's Noir. She's pregnant and will probably deliver Conan babies within the next two or three weeks.

Gives you an idea of the size difference.
