We have chicks!! I haven't opened the box yet, DH is getting the brooder set up now. They're loud though!

Rooster half heartedly went after my daughter this morning. DH said before he's done if he does that... I haven't pushed the issue but I hope he follows through. He's got better aim than me.

WooHoo - yay for chicks. That's always exciting and so much fun. Bet your daughter is gonna love it!

One isn't going to make it. We syringe fed him but not gonna happen. The rest are crazy drinkers and eaters. These chicks look fantastic! Need to see about getting a replacement, since it's a Dorking that isn't looking so hot.

Just remembered they have a 15 chick minimum so I'll probably just ask for a refund. We don't need 15 more! Not this year, we're downsizing!

DH is going to fix the automatic waterer on one of the meat bird coops and we will list it and one of our 50 chick metal brooders as a meat bird "starter kit". We won't be using it and I would prefer to have some cash over having more stuff!

We finally put up my garage in a box thing for hay storage. Of course I have very little hay until this summer lol, but I hope to put up 150 bales this summer, and we'll get it in the field, which is usually about $3/bale as opposed to $5 after the hay guy puts it in his barn.

OH heck yeah - cash is better than things any day!

Wish we could get hay prices like that here. Cheapest I can get square bales in the field is maybe $5 - 6.00 a bale. I hate even getting square bales anymore - but I almost always need some. I got 30 this year and have about 5 left. 'Course I got 6 round bales too. They were $35 each. They are so much easier, but do have some waste associated with 'em.

Yeah we don't have a tractor so square bales it is!

Poor chickie died. At least he got some love first, my husband is great at poultry emergency care!

Ahhh, poor chickie! :(

One of the main reasons we bought a tractor. Being old requires a tractor, lol!
