I'm on day 11 since my original quit. I have not smoked any at all since last weekend, the aforementioned slips! Woo Hoo!
The veggies are really helping with the hand to mouth habit. This is turning out to be the perfect time to increase my veggie intake with a "feed bag" as Dace calls it
Garlic Hummus smeared on purple cabbage leaves is darn tasty
I almost fit into my goal pants. I can actually zip them up, but wearing them in public is another matter. Plus the belly still kinda, well but it's getting better.
My latest batch of kombucha is real fizzy the first two I brewed were a little flat, so this is exciting. Nummy num
Made some yogurt this weekend. It had been a little over a week since we ran out of my last batch, so we were overdue & craving it. We've already gone through over half of 3/4 of a gallon. I make a gallon at a time and strain it (thanks for the tip, whoever you are. I usually end up with eight 3/4-full pints.
I still have not gotten a chance to finish our rabbit hutch, but we got my granny moved into her new house. YAY!
I'm taking a few things home from work today to finish up. Two faucets, dryer exhaust, washing machine drain & icemaker self-piercing valve. I'm confident I can handle everything BUT the icemaker. We'll see if it comes with instructions and how well my spastic mind can handle them
I have to replace two hinges on the chicken coop door, the pin is bent and about to pop out. I think DD may be standing on the door & not the frame when she gathers eggs. I have a swing down door and no pop door, so I open the whole thing every day. No biggie though and it will work perfectly for a mini cow shelter or goat run-in whenever that time comes. I'm wanting to build a bigger coop next year and go wild with chickens. Maybe 50, maybe 100. We'll see
Just when it gets aaaaalmost dry enough to mow my jungle & do some tilling, it rains again. It's cloudy now, breezy & 49; just cold enough for me to wear a hoodie and push the sleeves up, but we should have decent weather the rest of the week.
The ladies don't seem to mind it the rain, they head off into the trees and scatter fallen leves. I think it may have been the 2 months of rain that slacked off their laying, rather than the lack of "daytime" hours. Those hormones don't get stimulated unless the sun is actually shining:/ Got 4 eggs yesterday and 5 the day before.
BTW I just saw the pics!!!!! Your kids, well I could eat them up with a spoon!!! Gosh they are soooooo cute!!!! You and your husband are a very nice looking couple too.
I'm glad you stopped smoking you have a beautiful family to live for!
Thank you, I think I have the cutest kids in the world! But of course, every parent thinks that I thought I got a pretty good catch in DH, he helped me make pretty babies
DS decided he likes the fizzy kombucha, the rest of us still have to hide it in stuff mostly. I can take a couple of sips by itself but its a little too puckery-sour for more than a quarter glass or so.
I've got way more confidence now than at any other time I've quit. THIS is it!
Been a while since I posted. I got very discouraged over the holidays. Out of 28 people in MIL's house, 2 were non-smokers. After all the second hand, my withdrawals were back in full swing. I had no gum, and was in a little tense situation, plus the cycle was on. Excuses, excuses. I start over again this weekend. Friday seems to be a good day for me.
Not going to beat myself up, I will lick this. Thinking about those books Jason mentioned.
Now for some sad news, this morning something attacked & killed 4 of my hens and my roo.
I have my suspicions about the predator, DH is going to play sniper tonight. SSS, ya know? Whatever it was left lots of feathers, a single dead hen and two very traumatized, bare bottomed hens. I hate that I'm at work and not able to pamper them today. I doctored some minor cuts on their vent areas & put them in the bathtub with a towel & some warm water, oats & yogurt. They were scared stiff, but still came to me when I shook the treat tub. I only did it in hopes that a few had survived.
It had to have happened when DH & I were taking a shower this morning, as they were all accounted for at sunrise when I opened the coop.
I am sorry about your hens and roo. Such a shame. I forgot to close my run last night. I was very worried when I got up at 4 am but to scared to head out in the yard. Most of my coyote attacks have happened just after sun up.
Your MIL's house must have been torture. It's not your fault. Just get back up and do it again. You've done it before. This time will be easier. Hang in there.
Sorry Noobie, It is that time of year when the predators are getting desperate and hungry.
And that smoking thing? You were simply out-numbered. Gina is right, you can quit again. I have a feeling holidays are hard for many reasons (bad eating temptations etc), but especially for quitting when everyone gathered around is smoking. Hang in there girl, they are almost over!
Torture, yep that about sums it up. I'm up off the ground now, dusting off my behind, ready to tackle it again.
I have a feeling the predator was my granny's dog. Not her yappy housepets, but an outside dog that no one really likes. Not one single attack until the little beast got moved to the new place.
Going to order at least 50 new chicks, I was already planning on increasing my flock. I really really don't want them enclosed in a run, but maybe I should consider it, with the new animals around.
