Put a bag over their head so you don't have to look at that cute face and bill.

I cried over the first 3 bunnies I did. Like a baby. A hungry, angry baby.
Bwaa haa haa. Gotta love a random Serenity reference :D

I know this is cheesy, but when I have to cull/butcher something I repeat a line from Clan of the Cave Bear. "When you return to the Mother, thank her for me." Like I said, cheesy, but it helps.
You know, that is a good idea. Not cheesy at all!

but seriously--your gonna skin it? NOooooooo!!!
Losing all that good fat is a shame, but my time is so limited right now I just can't spend the extra time plucking. I had to pick up my son and go back in to work shortly after I started the post. :p

Now where is OFG??? She of all people should be feeling my pain here and talking me in to it! :D

Finding their way to your table is the best thing that can happen to these ducks as that is what they are here for. Thank them for their bodies before you send them back to the Great Spirit. Treat them kindly at all times and let them know you appreciate their giving you their bodies for your survival.
It is OK to do this and once you feel this way, it will be easier to do what is required to get them to the table.

I've heard the hot water (with a little dish soap) will loosen the feathers enough so it is only as hard to pluck as a chicken. Without the hot soapy dip, they are way hard to pluck.

you don't really have to pluck them though. Once you dip and swish in the hot water, 99.9% of the featehrs just wipe right off. You willneed to pluck a few of the stubborn feathers on the wing tips and tail, but, as long as your ducks are not moulting, they should be easy to 'pluck'.

If theya re older, skinning can be quite a chore. read-thick tough skin.

If I find them first, I'll send them on to you. And, if you find them first, send them on to me. I have 2 roos. I KNOW how to do it, but am dreading it a bit. But, it has to be done, hopefully this week. Probably after these 2, it will get a bit easier.
