Hey! I have an idea! Lets all read the 20 some pages that talk about this on BYC! Then maybe we can all get this out of our system. I stopped at pg. 16. Got too boring.
I can't I'm still on time out.
Were you a bad boy on BYC?
I can't talk about it. I might get more time out.

well first there was a lot of hubbubery, then alot of yelling, then finger pointing, followed by a lot of 'says who'... which quickly degraded into "the race card"... peppered with a lot of fear, suspicion, and doubt.

it was a dilly.

as for 'never been done before?" i think a couple of the past prezes have had something like this but remember our technology was taken wild steps forward making it easier, cheaper, and possible...so maybe thats why its happening now? oh wait. its b/c a one time speech is going to brainwash a bunch of kids who wont be paying attention anyway.

for the life of me i cant understand what all the hoo-ha is about... a successful person talking to kids about staying in school? what next? communism.

BD you didnt miss much - but apparently the opportunity for a fight?? ok spill the beans who's chicken coop did you let the fox into?

:)

I think the ones who are getting upset over the president addressing the children would probably get upset over it no matter who the president was.

But what do I know?

Seems to me I remember writing a letter to Presiden Regan as an in class assignment. Our teacher had us watch a press release, about what I've no clue, but after we watched President Regan, we were instructed to write him a letter. Our teacher then mailed those letters.

No one asked our parents first. :hu

At the risk of being rude, I truly question the sanity of someone who deeply fears our president speaking to our children. I have to assume:

1. Their children are very gullible.

2. They believe President Obama has TREMDENDOUS POWER!!! Enough to brainwash children through a TV address.

3. They do not have very good communication with their children. Do you honestly believe that children only hear things that you absolutely believe 100%? Uh, I think that's what family dinners are for. You know, a chance to talk to your kids about what they think about life and explain to them what you think about life.

If you are that concerned about your children listening to crap, might I suggest throwing away your TV, not allowing them on a school bus, to pass a construction zone or listen to rap music, ever?

Wow. This really sets a new low.

Well, close to mine, too :) We didn't have a TV growing up, but my dad has his own construction company, so I heard plenty when scrapping out his jobs. Also rode the bus! Didn't listen to rap, but all forms of music (maybe not classical) have enough about drugs and sex. Anyway, my parents did a great job of passing their values to us in all the ways that good parents do, regardless of all the other influences in our lives.

Anyway, off topic. Carry on :D

They have the entire transcript of the speech on line. If you need to give your kids a lecture about being successful, pulling your own weight and being self sufficient, don't bother. Just record this speech and have your kids watch it. You can leave the room too. No editing needed.

If you can't give this man credit for anything else, you should be able to give him credit for great speeches. Even if he does use a teleprompter like every other reading person that gives speeches.
