good morning everyone!!!!
we we survived another holiday.... it was a dilly. onward and upward. after the obligatory uncomfortable slightly confrontational always inappropriate and generally bad meal with the MIL... we raced home and planted about 50 pounds of taters. then after i weeded in the garden and The Big Man went for a motorcycle ride we were able to regroup and more forward. and yes, there was ice cream involved.
and
Runner's chicks are almost all hatched! there might be one casualty but she wont move from the nest. today we'll make her get up if only for a few mins.. she needs to poop and stretch her legs. and i need to find out whats going on with the nest situation.
so far there looks like at least one red one (buckeye?), on chipmunk striped one, 3 or 4 black ones (barred rocks) and one little white one with a black stripe on his head! and at least a couple have feathers on their feet. very cute entirely. i'm still not sure if they know they are chicken chicks...and not turkey poults.. but she's a good momma and is taking care of them. i love when she sings her turkey songs to them.
on the agenda this week:
* pressuring Little Nibbles to hurry up and have her babies
* figuring out a better system for milking and feeding these silly goats
* more planting
* based on the thunder last nite, making sure we have our basement set up for tornado season
* seeds seeds and more seeds...
* The Great Turkey Harvest..some of these boys gotta go
i think that will keep us hopping....
happy monday!
ps Free - dang that Vita is stinky... wow... like buck stinky... as for sniffin' the critters....i'm always sniffing our cat who i bottle raised from 3 days old she smells like a little patch of heaven to me! goats.. well they smell like goats but i like when they snuggle me. we'll brush out Vita so she's less stinky.. whew! but she's no where near pig stinky i'm just tired of changing my shirt every time i milk her! speaking of..i gotta go grab some teats (for milking that is) i'm late!
