OFG, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your journal...

I also entered a contest today to win a decade worth of bacon and thought of you :)

At this point Ohio you need to start keeping a collection of your most praised "forum tales", then later without much work 'atall you could publish a wonderful humorous homesteading novel ... just hook 'em all together!

I'd buy one! :thumbsup

happy Christmas eve day folks!

we just had family fun with our neighbors - such a good time! and it was wonderful to spend it with folks who's kid's still light up when they get presents. we had a great time! now i need to let all this good food digest... oh the heavenly corn pudding they had! and red velvet cake! and home made noodles (with eggs that we made them take!)

:)

so we are past Xmas..whew! i have to say i'm glad its in the rear view. we had our respective families over the last couple of days and really had a very nice time. but we still couldnt get into the whole thing.... we are/were still sulking as this was the first Xmas without our Grandma...and it just wasnt the same.

we had a couple of mild weather days - and now are back in the whole winter thing. my sunny optimism for snow and such lasted about 35 seconds as we were driving today. it was kind of like this:

me: well i guess winter is here. ok. we'll just hunker down. this will be great! we can rest and lay around!
he: (looking forward to doing nothing) yep!

35 seconds later we drove past the bank time and temp sign reading 23*

me: TWENTY THREE DEGREES!??! ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!??! HOW ARE WE GOING TO SPEND THE NEXT 3 MONTHS LOCKED IN THE STINKIN' HOUSE. WINTER SUCKS!!!! aghghghhghghhhhhhhhhhh
he: so i guess that whole 'doing nothing is off'
me: yep. lets get this heap turned around and go and get more building materials might as well do some work!

let the winter grumbling begin! booo snow! booooo winter!!! booooo!!!!! the winter of my discontent has begun. the line forms here for fellow grumblers.

Hey OFG! I'm in line too. :/

Just a year ago when I was still in South TX I used to dream of working in the fruit/veggie cooler room at Costco. :p

Now I'm over it. It was 25 this morning, I have to go out and haul water to the ducks, chickens, sheep and horses. This has been going on for weeks. :/ (This is not what I signed up for when I moved up here, but I'll take it any day over the heat.)

Well that was quick :gig

I love Dec. because of the holidays. Love the first week of Jan...new year and all. Hate the last 3 weeks of Jan. Feb brings new hope for seeds and spring gardening. March brings planting out side. April bring the joy of watching the garden slowly begin to grow. May brings true joy of going out to the garden and finding SOMETHING to be picked!

I just have to make it to Feb when I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel we call winter. Dramatic for a girl who doesn't get snow huh? I still hate the dreary hopeless month of Jan.
