When my MIL died we found plastic bags from stores with items she had bought still in them and the change she got back when she paid for it. They were all over her house. Then we knew she had quite a lot of money somewhere in the house and finally found it in an envelope, taped to the bottom of a drawer in her chest of drawers. Lordy cleaning out her house was a nightmare - she had enough furniture in her house to set up 3 houses.

mmmm, I guess I better start going through my stuff and getting rid of it now, so DD and whoever won't have to go through that ordeal :hide
Not only did my grandma live and die in about the same timeframe, she was in 2 wars. If you weren't able to make do, you died.

oh man we had to go thru a lot of stuff.. from my grandma and also from my mom. it really inspired me to shovel thru my own stuff and sort and edit.

but i loved finding old letters and things. my mom kept just about every check she ever wrote (remember when the banks used to send the canceled checks back to you?) my sis and i had a great time looking at them and remembering things like our swim team days, girl scout cookies, etc.

so wow what a day! its beautiful here and we went to the nearest county fair... its the last one of the season. we had a GREAT time.. but i'm never ever eating again. ever.

we had a "buckeye" funnel cake - deep fried dough topped with peanut butter and chocolate.. and powdered sugar.

and fried cheese..lots of fried cheese. it was a fried cheese frenzy.

i'm having a glass of water for dinner. ugh.

Our Fair starts the 21st. My 15yr old nephew doesn't ride rides, he says it is an "all night eat-fest". He told his 12yr old brother that what rides T12 goes on will be determined by the concessions closest to that ride.

Have you ever had fried Oreos? It's wrong. Just wrong. And sooooo good!

Hehe! It's like a treasure hunt! What a wonderful way to go out!
But some of the treasure! :ep

MY mom had a huge collection of TEETH! Anybody in the family who had a tooth pulled or lost a baby tooth and the danged thing was in there. :sick

Totally grossed me out and THAT is not an easy task!

My D1 thought the collection was hilarious. Proof positive of the mental dysfunction that exists in my family. She decided to KEEP the collection for posterity. Again YACK! :sick

Are those teeth all catalogued or just a jar of loose teeth????

My dad did office cleaning when I was really little and came home with interesting stuff from the trash (I guess I know where I got it! :p ) He got some model teeth from some display for dentures or something. My brother put them in his hand and went into the kitchen where my mom was, holding his hand to his mouth and crying. When she pulled his hand away, there were all these teeth.

Good times!
