i kid you not.. i have THREE kinds of cake to choose for breakfast today!
whooot!
we had a hootenanny last nite with the good neighbors. the dad made (very good) pizza and we had a fun cake. GreatGrandma G is just as spry as the day is long. we think she'll make it to 100 for sure.
i just love their kids. we know families where the kids either ignore us entirely, have their faces stuck in their phones, or demand to be the center of attention.. but these kids are fantastic. they are polite, engaged, clear the table without being asked, each of them came up to me and wished me happy birthday and hugged me... all without a parent telling them. its so great to be with them.
and the other grandmas were there too. one of them heard us talking on xmas day about how our grandma (who is no longer with us) used to make pizzels (a kind of cookie) so she made us a batch! we were thrilled.
the family dont/wont eat any leftovers - of anything - so they loaded us up! so we got lots of snacks and cake!
and they made stock from one of their beefs... so we got a huge bag of bones too! little Kai's head is gonna explode when she sees the extra big bones.
my hubby is gonna go and work with the husband and one of the boys. there is a huge hardwood down in the "come and get it for free" area - so they are gonna wrassle with it and get a splitter and get it all cut up...and we can have some too. just in the nick of time b/c we were wondering if/how we could get a load of fire wood.
so tons of problems solved and a good time for all.
i informed The Big Man that now all of this holiday rigmarole is over TODAY is the start of my new year and i have a list of projects a mile long. i'm not so sure he's as excited about it as i am.
so thats the word - happy monday everyone!!!!
