Bad Miss lil' Nibbles! (Sounds like an exotic dancer's name!) Put that anti radiation suit on her with the mask, tin foil hat et all and send her over to the Wet Coast, to her Auntie Sally's house! I love naughty animals!

I just pulled 2 more kids that I sold. Once again, the people want bottle babies. I have sold to 5 people so far and 3 of them wanted bottle babies. I also have a couple of requests for kids that people want to bottle feed.

I had a few does like that.
as soon as I could I sold that doe. A non nursing momma sucks, cull her fast. I always did.

I too never bottle fed unless absolute emergency. I didn't have time to do that with any kids.

When I had this problem, I went out about 5 times a day and made the doe feed the kids....it was enough. they lived lol and then I sold the kids fast and culled the doe.

problems, who needs them lol

best of luck in all this mess...been there, it stinks :p

sometimes a doe will refuse to milk the kids because there is something wrong with them and they die soon. I have had this happen. The does just know...they know when something is wrong and push the kid aside. In trips etc this easily happens. One is weak, not quite right ya know, doe lets the other 2 nurse but not the 'sick one' cause she knows something is wrong, something I could not see easily.

just passing on some info

thanks FC - i hadnt thought about that at all - maybe there is something wrong with them! great info. i'll have the neighbors come over and give them a check up. they seem fine and are out there running around. their bellies felt full when i went out there - and then we put Nibs on the stand to give everyone a sip just in case.

but now Nibbles seems to like them again - maybe she was just having a bad day.

stupid moody Nibbles. she seems a little flighty these days - actually all of the animals seem nuts right now.

last nite for supper i had a pasta with bacon and TWO goat cheeses! it was spectacular....and then for breakfast i had goat-gurt.... i made yogurt yesterday and it came out really good.

yay goat milk! whooot!

happy friday!

Maybe she is the slow-to-warm-up type, like my Molly. Molly did not like her baby at all for 24 hours and wanted to kill it. She seemed to do better the next day, and liked it enough that we left it with her without supervision but we were worried about the little guy.

You should see her NOW. She dearly loves him. She will not be happy when he is sold. When he comes up to suckle, she lifts her back leg up like a male dog fixing to take a whiz, so he can RAM her udder like a little freight train three times BAM! BAM! BAM! and then nurse heartily. If parted from him for longer than a few minutes, she acts striken. I keep reminding her if not for ME, he would have been goat fritatata that first night.

She just looks at me blankly, I think she has selective memory.

very strange situations I have been in....like they die like 1 -2 months later from 'seemingly' nothing, but were OK ---I don't know, I have hit all kinds of crazy situations LOL

You know we are supposed to have a super-moon tomorrow? or maybe it was the nice weather that made her yearn for her carefree days...who knows :hu Mine were acting up yesterday too - crying out for food all day Another thought - maybe she was sore? They get pretty vigorous on the mamas some days.
