um.. actually they can do ok if given the right tools. i think the big thing is that pigz dont sweat so they can have a hard time cooling themselves.
so what we do is always pen them in a heavily shaded spot, make sure they have plenty of water, spray them down with the hose on the hottest days (they are kinda like kids playing in a sprinkler), and make sure they can make a wallow in the mud. some times we give them frozen stuff - like frozen milk.
the big thing is that, in general, you dont want to over heat them. so you dont want to over stress them or what not.
apparently there are some breeds that do better in different climates. so my "rule" is - if someone is growing them near you (and has been for a while) then thats the breed to get. how over-simple is that???
