asparagus pizza with bechamel & chevre??? WOWZA... sounds heavenly... i've made a really really garlicy bechamel sauce for a super white pizza... and all summer we love the fresh goatie cheese - but that sounds like an amazing combo - whoot!

TT - you've got the sillies!!! and i may have been right at one point but we passed that truck stop a long long time ago.

ok lets review the events of the day:

1. had pizza for breakfast
2. had home made cinnamon rolls for dinner

in between i paced around like a caged tiger, bumped into things aimlessly, never did get out of my jammies, suited up to go outside like i was getting ready for deep sea exploration, discovered the goat didnt have her babies, chased that silly drake everywhere, cursed the snow (goes without saying).... and we had to save our neighbor who got stuck in the snow!

it took her 1.5hrs to get home, she pulls in the drive, and stuck. double stuck, horribly stuck. just then i called to see if she was home and there she was. so we raced back outside and..of course.. The Big Man took the wheel and drove that minivan like a.. like a... well use your imagination. but he drove it well and mushed thru the snow like a sled dog team.

so everyone was happy.

now all the cats are in puddles in front of the fire and i'm wondering what else i can eat. basically anything that cant run from me is fair game.

OFG, I just read some of your blog and you have me rolling on the floor.

I am going to have SO read it, so he won't feel so alone in this (ad)venture we're in.

I especially love one where people tell you, Why don't you just get a job so you don't have to grow your own food?
We get that one all the time, especially from his family!!!!

All you do is garden all day. Why are you complaining its not like you work?" we usually get this one from people who desperately are in need of excercise and a better diet!!! We love to challenge them to keep up with us for a day or so and eat what we eat

the first week i was here i was fully expecting my seattle friends to helicopter in an extraction team to 'save' me. hee hee hee

me: no
so called friend (SCF): but what about the ENVIRONMENT
me: i grow most of our own food - say where'd you get that nectarine in the middle of winter?
SCF: um.... the store
me: and they got it from chile? whats the carbon footprint on that?
SCF: well.....
me: the carbon footprint for our freezer full of pork is limited to the gas me needed for the tractor when we pulled that pig's carcass up the hill
SCF: you KILLED a pig?
me: yep. and i didnt even feel bad......

it kinda goes like that... oh well....

and dont get me started on what i eat all day and the horrified screams of the gals who live on the latest fad diet. me? i drink cream right out of the carton sometimes

I had to go to the dentist today in the middle of a blizzard, and while I'm there with my jaw frozen for the filling, I am being grilled about all my animals , milking, how old lambs are when they ar butchered. They were totally fascinated, they kept me there lisping (cuz I couldn't realy talk well)after my appointment to contiue to ask me questions. And I think I sold market lamb. I absolutely LOVE it when they are curious and "get it". I hate my dentist, (but I love her too.)

I totally love it when city people truly have an interest in raising healthy meat. Meanwhile , I am sure they are talking about what kind of hick I am after I leave, but who really cares, I educated two people today!!

Woohoo!! A++ for educating city folks!!! Every once in a while I will find someone that is actually interested in "farm life" It just thrills me to educate them..and seeing that they are actually interested. You can almost see the wheels turning in thier little smog filled heads!
