Okie, SO GLAD to hear your friends home and pets are safe. So far my son said he is safe as well. Glad to hear you all are safe too! Thats so scarey! Even when the fires seem to be out, it only take a small gust of wind to get them going again! I feel so bad for all those who lost everything.

Thank you Gina :D I'm pretty sure the danger is passed now....I don't think the winds are supposed to be high today, and there is a %100 chance of rain tomorrow.

Me too Justusnak :( It is very very sad. They are estimating that 150 homes were lost to the fires. And there are still some burning down in Southern Oklahoma I believe.... Thank God that it is supposed to rain on Easter Sunday. That's an odd thing to say at first glance isn't it? But the rain will put those fires out, and that's what we need.

Yesterday there were hot spots that ignited at the site of the fire that was just south of our house, but the winds had died down considerably, so they were able to get them under control.

I talked to my friend that lives here now, that used to live in San Diego, and she said she was really really freaked out when the fires broke out. She said, "Fires I'm used to, yes. But it's scarier here because out here there is way more open land to burn up and add fuel to the fire. Out in where we lived, when something catches fire, there's much more concrete for the embers to land on and burn themselves out rather than in someones dry open pasture land." Good point. Hadn't thought of it that way at all. Still Fire no matter where it is, is a terrible thing if it gets a hold of someones house.

Well I took my sugar test the other day at my OB appt. They called me today and left a message b/c I didn't hear the phone. I called back and got the voicemail

Anyway, ususally they don't call back with test results unless they're not good. I will find out tomorrow what's going on. I did feel pretty ick after I drank the sugar drink. They told me ahead of time that sometimes this prelim test will come out positive for gestational diabetes, but the second test, the 3 hr test, will usually come out negative.

Here's hoping. :fl

I did get the results from the sugar test today, and a normal sugar level is 110. Dr's don't want it to be over 120. My reading was 166.

I am scheduled for a more accurate 3 hour fasting test at the end of this month. I'll give an update of what the results are when I get them.

We think that I had gestational Diabetes when I had DD because my levels were elevated when I took the 3 hour fasting test, but not enough to cause concern to the Dr I guess. I didn't really care for that Dr. though and that's a long story within itself. Let's just say that per divine intervention, she didn't deliver my DD. Anyway my DD was 9 lbs 5 oz and she was a week early. So it's quite possible that I have gestational Diabetes again, if I had it then. :idunno I don't know if I had it when I was pregnant with the Twins, but pre-term labor, and keeping the babies in as long as possible were pretty much all our main concern at the time, so I'm not even sure if they looked at my sugar levels then. But I will say that the boys were HUGE for their gestational age, and I was HUGE as well. We'll leave it at that ;)

I also (possibly, depending on if I have Gestational Diabetes or not) have a choice in the kind of delivery I will have. I delivered the first two "regularly" and the twins were born c-Section. Since I delivered the first two "regularly" the first time, I am a good candidate for VBAC.....that is if I don't have gestational diabetes.

This presents a dilemma for me, because I have no idea what delivery method to pick. They both come with risks, but I just don't know enough about the risks with VBAC...I've already been through a c-section so I know what that's like. I've already been through a "reg" birth as well, but not one after a C-section. It would be "easier" to pick c-section due to me being familiar with it, but not easier in terms of recovery. The main risk, albeit a very small percentage of one, is uterine rupture, which could cause death to me or the baby. The thing is the risk is 1% or less.

I just can't decide. Maybe my sugar levels will decide for me at the end of the month.

You poor thing, I hate that "being in limbo" thing. Just know that either way comes with risks and sometimes you just have to let the baby decide. All the planning in the world won't make a difference sometimes. Just praying for a healthy mom and baby!!! :hugs

Thank you Lori!! :hugs :hugs

My dr had mentioned a couple of appts ago that if I do happen to get gestational diabetes then the chances of my having a successful vbac goes down. I guess if that's the way the decision gets made, it's for a reason. We will see when we talk to him.

I ate a waffle today with less than 1/8 of a cup of syrup(you wouldn't believe how little that is!!) and a 6 oz glass of orange juice. I measured it all out. I didn't think it would affect me that badly. Wrong!
I slept for two hours afterward. :ep :ep Which totally sucks because we had a lot to do today. :(

I guess I will go read up on Gestational diabetes now. Duh.

I'm afraid to eat anything now, and I don't go to my dr until the end of the month. Time to educate myself. :caf

And orange juice is so good. Too bad it is so high in sugars.

Reading up is a good thing to do. Don't take this as gospel but I thing high fiber foods should be good.

I love orange juice! :love :love I did know that it was high in sugars, but didn't realize it would affect me that much because I get the natural orange juice instead of the sugar added-laden orange juice. :(

Yeah I think Fiber is good, and lots of protein I read. I also read that more exercise helps the body break down the sugar better. Good thing I have endeavored to weed out my monster of a front bed. That gives me about 30 min to an hour of exercise every evening. :ep

Until these last couple of posts, I haven't been on much lately except for a post here and a post there. I sure do miss reading everyone's journals, and I feel like I'm missing out on so much. We have just been having so much going on lately, that I havent had the energy to digest any new information, if that makes any sense. Our son's were diagnosed recently with Autism, and we have been learning all we can about it, and it has essentially become our life to learn all that we can, learn about treatments, cures, causes, therapies, etc. I hope to be back on here on a regular basis soon, but that all depends on so many things.

DH and I have decided to aggressively attack our debt that we accrued when we bought our house. After talking with a co worker for several weeks about finances and financial freedom, dh got a free copy of The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey about a month ago(it was an extra that was sent to someone by mistake and then it was given to him :D ), and we have decided that we are going to cut expenses drastically, budget every penny, and get rid of our debt at a lighting fast pace. It will require a lot of sacrifice..more than we have already been doing...and a lot of planning ahead, but we are ready. I'm excited, because I feel that debt freedom is a huge part of being self sufficient. I don't feel like I can fully call myself self sufficient, if I am constantly answering to credit card, vehicle, or mortgage payments. So here goes! :weee :weee

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here! :th

Update on everything okie homestead...still didn't get the garden done. :( Life just isnt working out that way right now. DH said next year. I'm holding him to it! ^_^ We did get 9 2x6's off of craigslist for 20 bucks cheaper than they would have been new, and they were in perfect condition! :D

Got all of the living rooms walls finally textured and painted!!!

:weee :weee :weee

DH is going to work on the crown molding next! :ya :ya :ya We saved sooooo much money doing this our selves!!

I have 5 weeks to go on the pregnancy, and I'm definitely ready for it to be over with!!! I ended up having to be on a pill to control my blood sugar...the after food sugars were great, which were under my control by eating the right foods, but the fasting sugars which are controlled by hormones only were too high, so they put me on a pill to help control my sugar. YAY no insulin!!! ....so far! :fl

Got two broodies that hatched out one chick each and they are doing great!!!

Have wild black berries growing in the back yard and I can't wait until they're ready!!! Not too long to go now!!

Here's a pic of me at 34 weeks :D

My goodness - your gonna pop -

Great pic and you are just way to cute. I never looked that good when I was pregnant.

The birds got most of my blackberries. of course with no rain for weeks there were not that many of them anyway and dry weather blackberries are not that great. (Thats what I keep telling myself)

Edited to add: Glad you were able to control that with a pill.
