Today DD and I started some seeds in the Burpee greenhouse thing that we got from home depot. I still don't know what I'm doing lol, but it was fun to get to have that experience with her b/c she really enjoyed it. She has been talking about gardening and flowers on and off for several months now, so I think that she will get a big kick out of helping in the garden this season.

We planted some radishes, snap peas, onions, and something else, but I can't remember what it is right now lol.

I also got one of my seed catalogues yesterday!! :weee :weee

Oh wow this is sensory overload!!! Can I just have one of everything?? :ya :ya

Also tried my hand at Amigurumi yesterday...and I am alsmost positive that I spelled it wrong ^_^

It's Japanese crochet for anyone that's not familiar with it. It's basically crocheted shapes. I am trying to make an egg shaped Easter chick but instead I unintentionally learned how to make my own hackey sack.

I think I'll make one for my brother for Christmas next year. :p

In the meantime I'll work on getting one to come out egg shaped :fl

How old is your dd? We planted some children's gardens back when ours were youngsters. Tall pole in the middle with garden strings from the top to the ground in a circle around the pole. Then we planted sunflowers around the pole, and viny veggies and flowers to grow up the strings. They really loved them.

Those catalogues are addictive! I have 5 or 10 of them now that we're drooling over... :D

I think my son's girlfriend is doing this now. She has been doing Origami for years and is quite good at it, but was looking for something new.

Post a pic when you get egg-shaped!

She's pre-school age, so everything is super exciting to her, especially planting seeds and flowers :ya

That sounds like a neat little set up for a kid. Seems as though it would give them a sense of pride in ownership. :thumbsup

oooh wow I am so in trouble when the rest of the catalogues come in ^_^ In the one that I got, it had heirloom giant limabeans!! :weee :weee :weee I don't need giant lima beans, but how cool!!!!

I still haven't had a chance to work on the Amirugumi. I was so pooped last night, that I fell asleep right after we put the kids to bed.

Thank you :D lol don't worry, we may someday adopt and then I may catch up with you ;)

More starts are coming up!! :ya :ya :ya I noticed the peas coming up this morning.

This could quite possibly get very ugly. I may end up with pots of dirt all over the house, with all kinds of things in them. I have already decided to get several pots and try my hand at indoor cherry tomato plants. Who in the world wants to wait until August for tomatoes? :p Why not have them now, especially when I am craving them. So I can thank my preggo cravings, and a couple of people's posts on here about having cherry tomato plants in the house :clap

DD was so excited when I showed her the peas coming up.

I had to contain myself when I went to Home Depot to look for an American Flag for my husbands birthday. I wanted to get another mini green house to start some more stuff!! ....with no idea what do with them if it's not warm enough outside.

Didn't get DH a flag or flag pole. They only had a few American flags left, and they were sown, but they weren't in the packages and they were dirty. Us both being in JROTC, and my husband being in the Marines, we won't do dirty, torn or worn American flags.(They are supposed to be ceremonially retired when they are worn torn or dirty). I will go to Wal-mart I suppose and see if they have one. When I used to work there they had a big selection, and they were still made in America. I don't know, but I just don't feel right about buying an American flag made in China...or any other country.

Got my Braum's today. (We were talking about this on Pam's thread)

It was yummy! I haven't eaten it in months. It was funny, cause I told the guy working in the window that it smells good in there, b/c when you go to just about any other fast food place, you smell chemicals and grease. But when the window opened, I smelled fresh food, and fresh cooked food. :weee :weee

First, you all have to stop all this talk about fast food.LOL Gets me wanting to go get some. It's too cold to go out and we try not to eat out.

You have seeds sprouting? I'm jealous. Tell me more about the indoor cherry tomato plants, please. Are they standard plants or special for indoor planting?

Good luck with your quest to find an American flag made in America. They are out there, but it might take some looking.

hahaha sorry! :D We don't eat out much either, but since I've been pregnant I've had two cravings for particular food from particular places, and yesterday I gave in. :weee :weee :weee

I think all 4 of the different kinds of seeds that we had planted are sprouting now. :weee :weee :weee Unfortunately I don't remember for sure where I read about the cherry tomato plants. It may have been on here or on the EG. I'm not sure what kind it was or if it was mentioned, but I will try to figure out where I read it, and see if I can get more info on it.

Thanks Keljonma!!

if you get the chance, grow grape tomatoes.....they are grape shaped and a tad smaller than the cherry tomatoes---BUT THEY ARE PACKED FULL OF MORE FLAVOR----honestly, the taste is exceptional.
