I agree, that's questionable. Put that to your supervisor and ask why it's that way.

Are there several newbies who need training, hours, etc? Are there more carriers than needed in that location? Gotta be a reason and not necessarily "you". 🤔
Thats a possibility. Like I said, I may be overthinking this, but its a interesting on the timing.

Have a friend that was a sub carrier for years here and when the regular carrier retired she took it over. She said there is some politicking going on in some of the offices that was off the wall. I think you are seeing it too... and someone has a grudge about something and trying to make you look incompetent.... just do your job as best you can, and follow the rules to the "letter", and hope that your trainer is in your corner and things smooth out as you get better.

Sunday I had to do Hendersonville again. Kinda ticked because Sat when I checked the schedule, it just said Amazon. When I get back from the route, I check before I go home, and it says Hendersonville. 😒
So I did 61 packages that day.
While Im on the route, I get a call from my supervisor.
Him: Hows it going on the route?
Me: Fine. Only have 17 packages delivered so far. Have 61 to do.
Him: You'll get it done. By the way, I volunteered you to help in Gallatin tomorrow.
Me: ( thinking in my mind WTF? ) Outloud I say, Ok.....send me the address.
Bleep.....bleep.....bleeep. 😡🤬
So had to be there at 8am. :thIts 35 miles from my house.
I get paid mileage from the point of my home office to there and back. Since I was told it was a LLV route, meaning I get to use the little government white vans, I didnt take the Jeep. Figured Id use thier gas instead of mine. :clap
Supervisor there wasnt happy I didnt bring my vehicle, but I told him I was told it wasnt necessary because Id get to use thiers.
Hey, I didnt want to go in the first place, so either let me use it or I can go home is what I was thinking. :idunno
It would of taken me an hour to go get my Jeep, and an hour back, so you do the math. Jerk.
Dont even get out on the part of the route I was supposed to do til 10:45 am. There were ALOT of packages. I cased what I could because the girl helping me had her own route to do and had to get hers ready.
I marked all the packages, got the mail pulled down, and out the door. They give me a line if travel sheet and I head out.
Got turned around because I didnt get in the right lane so had to find a place to turn around and get back on track. Once I got there it wasnt too bad. Some mail was out of order so I had to get it sorted and just went back and delivered it once I got back close to that street.
I hope I dont have to go back there. That was nuts.

I put in a change of address and was told it could take TWO MONTHS! My son added me to his post office box and was told it would take TWO MONTHS to get another key! What the crap is going on with our postal system? This is ridiculous!

Sorry to high jack your thread!

No problem, @baymule . The reason they sent me to the other office is because they needed the help. The post office is hiring as fast as they can, but like most people dont understand, as I certainly didnt, its not an easy job. There is alot to learn. Im just now getting better at casing and my speed is picking up, but I definetly had considered quitting many times because of several bad days.
Im still making mistakes, so I really need to consider things carefully or it could cost me my job. The federal government takes safety and rules very seriously. Never think no one saw you do something against the rules. Cameras and people are watching.
Hopefully you'll get your mail transfered soon. But the good thing is, if you still have it delivered to your old house, you can go visit your new family. 😁

Our post office apparently is not as strict as yours is. Our mail carrier has marked things as “held at PO per customer request” and just kept them overnight, she’s marked things as undeliverable when our mailbox and driveway were perfectly accessible, we’ve complained and they just say, we know…

Anyway that’s my rant, it’s a tough job I’m sure, but maybe she shouldn’t lie when I can access informed delivery 🤷🏻‍♀️

No kidding. I dont think that would fly at our office. I cant believe they let her get away with that. You might try going over the postmasters head and email the person over them. Im not sure how to do that, but maybe you can find out. There is no reason that should be allowed.

UPS left a $700 package at the end of our long driveway in a snowbank today so at least she’s better than whoever the UPS driver was today !

I would be so frustrated with your job if I were you, I really hope it gets easier for you and soon!
