:rant We put our electric fence SIX FOOT off the property line and the neighbor ran into it today with her mower!!!!! She bent up one post and knocked a couple of the strands loose on it and hit another post and knocked the bottom insulator all around! :somad We have the posts in the ground for the decorative (non-electric) property line fence but we do not have the wire on it yet. I called my DH on his afternoon break and told him that was going to be our project for this weekend!! And HELLO!! Do not run into my fence while 4 of my 6 kids are outside! They watch everything you do and then run back in the house and give me a play by play!! After she hit the second post I had just finished the corn so I went and sat in a chair by my back deck so that she could see me! Well, at least she did not break anything so I was able to fix it.

I was able to freeze up 45 quarts of corn!! I am now officially sick of corn....for a couple of days anyways! :p

My oldest and the neighbor are working on the goat fence gate right now so the goats should be able to be in their pen full time now instead of moving them back at night. (The fence was off when the neighbor hit it because the goats were still in the other pen and my oldest and the neighbor had stopped for a lunch break.)

Wow! You've been busy in the kitchen! That made me tired just reading about it.

Too bad the fence wasn't on when the neighbor hit it  Maybe it would've jolted some common sense into her. What is it with people and their bad neighbors lately?

Hope y'all have fun relaxing at the ball game!

My mom talked me into going out to a garage sale today. She found some kitchen chairs for a $1 each....4 of them, wooden, and in good shape, from a lady a few houses down. The lady used to go to my old church. She was kind enough to greet me and rub my tummy and congratulate me on being pregnant! I know I have gained a little bit of weight but geez! Anyways....
We went to two other garage sales and I got my 5 yo DD a Barbie case that was FILLED with Barbie clothes and like 13 or 14 Barbies, all in good shape for $5.
At the second garage sale I got a 1/2 gallon canning jar for .25 and an all metal Victorio Strainer for $3!!!! :ya I am giving it to my friend that gave me a dehydrator, ice cream maker, and sewing machine! I tried to talk her into getting one at Lehman's when we went but she did not have the $$. And I thought Walmart had one for cheaper...but we could not find one when we got back and looked.

Can I just tell you...I love my mom!! The lady in charge of the garage sale that had the Victorio Strainer was kind of...I don't know...she just rubbed me the wrong way. Nothing was marked for price. So, I asked how much the VS was and she said $5 (TOTALLY WORTH IT)....I offered her $3 and she said the lowest she would go was $4. My mom and I tried to put it all together and the handle was REALLY hard to turn and was squeeking something awful. So the lady called her mother to come in and check it out. All the while my mom was like "I don't know...that is really bad. I don't know if you can get that to work any better." The lady's mom comes in...she is even pickier than the daughter...She says she wouldn't use it and that hers is much nicer than this one but hers squirts juice out of the side and it is a pain. So I offered her the $3 again and she said OK!! I came home and washed it up! It works great!! Just a little stiff but I think with a little use it will be easier! The whole thing is ALL metal and is in excellent shape! The box looked ICK!! :sick

Great finds! FYI on the strainer - there probably isn't anything wrong with it, they are hard to turn when empty. I have a newer one and it says that in the instructions. Only turn when full. I think my Mom's is the same way. Mine has a splash guard, but I remember using my Mom's when I was young and the messes we made. Just have some old towels on hand. Good memories :D

Reading back through I realize I did not finish the part about my mom. When we got in the car my mom was like "You got a super good deal on that strainer! I just wasn't going to give that lady the satisfaction of knowing that!" That is why I love my mom! She knew I only wanted to pay $3 for it since I was just giving it to our friend and she always loves to get a good deal too!

When I got home I cleaned it up and it was a little stiff to turn but my 14 yo said it was just fine for him to turn it! My friend has a 15 yo DS so she can just put him to work turning it!

I had to run out to Walmart this morning to get some Cilantro to make some salsa today. I decided to hit the Indoor Flea Market to look for canning jars...couldn't find any....but I found two dresses for 5 yo DD, one was a $1 and one was $2. While I was over there the one section of the town was having a block wide garage sale. I got a Princess Doll (slightly bigger than a Barbie) for DD and a Prince Doll for a $1 each.
At another garage sale they had 18 month size girls clothes. I only had $2 left in my pocket....I started the day with only $7. The clothes were .25 to $2. Nice, name brand. I was thinking that man I wish I could get several of the $2 outfits to put for next summer. Then the lady walks up to me and says "You can fill a bag for $5" :weee *FILL A BAG FOR $5?? WOOT!! Run to van and see how much change you can dig up!! Wait...walk...you don't want to look like a crazy woman! Please be $3 in change! Please be $3 in change! WOOHOO! I found $3 in change!* Now I have like .16 let in my little change cup. :gig LOL!
I filled the bag and the GARAGE SALE price was $31.50!! I got 17 outfits, 3 tops, a handmade crochet top, a receiving blanket, and a pair of shoes! I filled my bag to the top!! I got all of the cutest girl clothes they had. They had a TON of nice boy clothes, like 4 tables worth and only a half a table of girl's clothes.

Today I am going to be making Salsa and then sewing a new dress for 5 yo DD. I picked up a new Daisy Kingdom pattern while I was at Wlamart today. This outfit is going to be a Crayon fabric with coordinating blue and red fabric in honor of DD starting K this year. I HAD to buy a new pattern because my mom, Betty, and another lady at church are giving me a bad time because I have used the style so many times!! :/ I also picked up a pattern that had a little book bag....hopefully I can figure it out!

DH and 3 of the boys are painting a garage for an elder lady from church this morning.

I got 17 pints of salsa made. This was my first time ever making salsa. I hope it turned out good. I think it is REALLY hot though! I have not got brave enough to try it though. I had DH try and he said "Mmmm...sweet............HOT!!"
I got all the fabric for DD's outfit cut out. Now I am just waiting for DH to repair the extension cord so I can plug in my sewing machine and start sewing for the first time on my new sewing machine!!

I got the pictures of DD's start of school dress posted to my blog!
http://pamspride.blogspot.com/
Some positive feedback would be appreciated. I like the dress itself as a dress.....but I miss the more boutique style that I usually do with all the ruffles and twirl. This dress still has that handmade look to hit.
I am however rather please with myself because I think my sewing skills have come a LONG WAY! This is a Daisy Kingdom pattern and I was able to follow it all on my own! My new sewing machine does make a difference in the stitch quality and stuff too....or at least I think so. This dress actually took an amazing amount of my the crayon fabric but I think I have enough left to make 8 yo DS a shirt....he keeps BEGGING me to make him one to match. He even had an absolute fit yesterday because I told him he had to wait until I bought a new pattern because I lost some of the pieces to the last pattern. So I am planning on doing the sleeves out of the crayon fabric and the rest of the shirt out of the red and blue....I have lots of that fabric left. Then I am hoping I have enough of the crayon fabric to make DD a boutique little book bag to go with her dress. Sigh...now to just get busy and actually get all that done!

Oh my, that dress is cute! My 3 year old is a dress fanatic - won't wear anything else. When the weather gets cold we have to make her wear pants or heavy leggings under her dress since she hates tights. She puts up quite a fight on the pants  Only 3 years old and she certainly has her own style going on.

Hey, Pam you sound like your getting a ton done!!

The dress you made for DD looks great. I like the long sleeves, it will transition perfect into fall. Just add some tights and she will be good to go. i am not familiar with the patter brand yo bought. I usually buy the Simplicity stuff just to make my life easier. The new machine and the quality of the stitching makes such a difference. I totally noticed it when I got my machine. Less pull on the seams and everything just seems to fit together nicely. I have a bunch of skorts to make for my 7 yo this week. I am planning on combining a shorts and skirt pattern so she will have something acceptable for school.

It will be a nice way to spend my week.
