Did you see the ad in the most recent free press - raw milk for sale (PA) with cheese making class on Sept 2 (I think)? The cost for the class is $25. TR thinks it might be interesting. I think I might call them this week to find out more info.

I didn't see it but my mom did and told me about it. I will need to look into it!

I went to an auction with my mom today and got two 2 quart jars (Blue glass) and 2 quart jars (also blue) in a box with 2 other quart jars with wire on the top, no lids, and 2 wine bottle with wire tops with the corks attached to the wire for $5!! I was thrilled! 2 quart jars are hard to come by here! I have seen the blue glass ones selling for $8.50 each at the local flea market. I also got a reel (sp??) mower for $7. It should work good for going in between our fence rows and in the goat pen.
There was a butter churn there but it went for $75...more money than I brought with me so I couldn't get it.

Just keep an eye out on the blue jar pricing. Some of the jars are reproduction - not original - and are not worth the price they are asking.

Check Lehman's and Amish stores in your area and you may find a better price for the butter churn. A lady up our way had one at her garage sale - but she was asking $80! I think that is outlandish, especially considering the bad condition hers was in.

I froze up like 30 quarts of corn already. I am taking a break for the day. My right hand is hurting from all the cutting and my left hand is raw from holding the hot corn! I am a total wimp! What can I say??
I was given 3 bags of onions, 2 boxes of tomatoes, and bag of plums today. I am going to dehydrated the onions. I am not sure what I am going to do with the plums! I have to wait for the tomatoes to ripen up before I use them.
My oldest and the neighbor got the roof on the goat house...well all but a half of a piece. I have to go buy another piece. But the roof is on enough for the goats to be over in their own pen full time now and out of the chicken pen.
DH's cousin gave me 4 tickets to the local minor league ball game so I am taking the older 3 boys...but then I found out it was only $2 to get in on Tuesday so I told my 8 yo DS I would take him too. She also gave us 10 tickets for next Tuesdays game. She gets them free from her school because they are sponsors or something. Hot dogs and drinks are also $2 tonight. So I told them I would get them each a hot dog and drink. So that should be a real treat for them.
