You have a lot going on! My grandma used to say "do your best and God will do the rest". You're a good example of that!

PC, I am sorry about your mother, our prayers are with you and your family.

My Auntie live outside Springfield they have those squash beetles as well. she also lost her tomatoes this year. :he

"do your best and God will do the rest" I say this to my children on a regular basis. I think society puts to much pressure on them to early.

Hang in there.

Boy thank you all so much for the prayers and kicks in the hinney, LOL. I appreciate both so much. Sorry if I sounded whiney and down, i really didn't mean the message to come across that way. Things can always be worse and I keep that thought in the back of my mind. Meaning rejoice in the things that are good even if they seem small at the moment.

Mom seems to be holding her own. Nowif I can get my garden to do the same we would be peachy-keen.

"Do your best and God will do the rest" will be a new mantra of mine. Seems like that would fit most any situation and if a great motto for my life right now.

Thanks again-

I like your new mantra :)

I am sending up prayers for your mom, I hope that she is doing better. It sounds like a lot to handle.

Congrats on the wonderful blessings, amazing how God works isn't it?

Morning, PC..sorry I'm getting in here late! We'll keep your mom in our prayers.

Awesome on how the blessings pour in! If I've learned nothing else in the last five years, I've learned that no matter the situation, God always provides the needs or shows you how to live without what you "think" you need. :)

:hugs

Well here it is. Time has slipped away from me again. Mom is home and doing better from what the docs say, but she seems to be feeling less like doing anything at all. I totally understand (don't get me wrong) but now I have 2 households to keep running.

I got a chance to make spaghetti sauce out of some ripened maters and need to find the time to can it today. Also have tons more tomatos to work up. I would love to take the time to make sauce out of all of it, but it takes so long to boil it down to any consistency.

Last Monday was B's 4th birthday, so we had his party on Saturday. Today is Big K's birthday and I am cheffing up a meal. Since the finances are always tight around here, K and I have forgone presents for any holidays for a while now. I would love to be able to go and get him something that he would love but it is just not doable.

Not doable because....... Like I said when it rains it pours. While Mom was in the hospital the AC went out in my van. I thought I could tough it out but only have one window that rolls down and this week the heat indexs are in the 110 - 115 degree range. So hubby went to a meeting later that night after the van AC blew and the back brake caliber locked up on his truck. He actually had to leave his truck to be fixed so I decided I could wait on the van. Okay this fat chick in a van with no AC was not working so had Dad take me down to have it fixed. Of course, got the response that it would be 2 days. Went to pick up Big K's truck and they had to order a whole new drum so another 2 days on him. WE WERE AFOOT! Dad called brother and asked to borrow his truck (they have 4 vehicles, don't get me started) and so I was going to take his truck. About 30 minutes after dropping him off, he called to tell me the tie rod end had fallen off brother's truck. So I went to pick him up and we decided to reserect (SP?) Mom's old car. It had been sitting for about 3 years. Of course the battery was dead and pulled one off the tractor and got it running. while unloading our carseats from dad's truck I noticed the air was not working in her car either, BUT it did have windows that rolled down, so I could tough it out. Then while driving the 1990 Cadillac, having the windows down loosened the headliner and that now hangs on everyone's head.

Seems anything I have touched for the last week has fallen apart. Finally had to sit down and have one good cry about it and then suck it up and go on.

So now after $250 on the truck and then $350 on the van, we are tapped out. Not to mention that I think the torc convertor is going on the truck and the van needs an alignment, brakes and shocks and struts. Oh well, we will get to it when we can.

On the bright side, I had an interview today at the local school for a personal aide position. I am hoping to get it because it would work so well with P's school schedule and then B would only have to spend a short time in the afternoon with a babysitter. It only pays minimum wage but I would be eligible for insurance and that would save it being deducted from Big K's check. The interview went exceptionally well and I am hopeing for the best and preparing for the worst.

Well I had better get back to getting things done for Big K's supper tonight. Thinking pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and homemade peach cobbler.

I would also like to ask you all to suggest anything for canning tomatoes/sauces. Seems like I have a pile of maters and then end up with 2 pints of sauce. Maybe that's the mater way, but would love suggestions or recipes you use.

I freeze some of my romas, I don't know what variety you have but after I freeze them I just let them thaw and slice them for the top of homemade pizza.
Nothing fancy, just throw them in a bag whole and into the freezer they go.

You may want to can some whole and then puree them later for sauces, you can always chop them up later for stews or soups.

I don't have much experience canning. Good luck!

Oh, and I feel you on the car issue. We had to put tires on both our vehicles and then the ac went out in our car too....need new back brakes on the car, thankfully the old ones passed inspection.

I think a lot of them are just giving up in all this heat. :p
