i like the harls...

i dunno what it is about runners...they make me smile they look and act so silly and always look like theve got this big grin on their faces.
i plan to do muscovy eventually as well, but free ranging right now isnt doable (too much brush and such to be safe) and secure enclusures are too expensive right now lol.
runners are smal and easy to keep where you want them lol...though i do think they are a tad blonde LOL!

yeah once free ranging is an option the muscovies will join us :D lol i love scovy ducks too, there another "funny looking" one...i have a thing for the funny looking ones lol.

Right now im planning 3 black and 3 blue runners though, i thing 6 ducks should be more than enough to supply eggs for the table and for the dogs...if ive got enough to sell a couple dozen a month too and at least 1 incubator full a year :D ill be more than happy with that.
ill be hopefuly doing 5 hens to a drake...its just a case of getting sexed babies...
Id like black and blues so right now im thinking 2 black ducks, 2 blue ducks and a blue drake to service them :D (that should give me blue black and splash babies out of potential hatches)

in other news...
today ive decided i need to aproach food a little differently, i need to chop my food budget as much as possible and i need to stop winging itbecause winging it means bad choices...so instead i think im going to get incvolved and do a meal planner...
my problem is less the main focus of the meal (meat) but more the sides to go with it.
im such a picky eater...
i like potatoe, sweet potatoe, rice, pasta and quinoa.
i like corn, carrots and occasionally sweet peas...and i like general mixed salads.
beyond that...
warmer weather is easy, a steak on the grill and a big fresh salad and im good to go...but winters whne i prefer hot meals tend to be meat potato and corn...
so ive got to put some more planning into this so i can buy meals (even if i stick with what i know lol)

so im hoping if i plan my meals using a planner i might be able to get a better hold of how much im eating in terms of carbs and try to replace them a little better with other things.
i want to try and feed myself 3 solid meals, 2 snaks and drinkage (i just cant do water) for under $25 a week.
my meals MUST be protein based
i dont want to go carb free (last time i tried it i got very very ill)
but i do want to go lower carb.

so heres to hoping :D if i can get myself under $25 a week in food/drink itll open up a little more money in the bank account and make likfe just that little bit easier.

veggie soup would have to be a meat and veggie soup...i have to focus on protein...

stew i cant do, theres somthing about stewed beef that doesnt digest well since the surgery, it gets stuck and sits very heavy (even though stewed beef is fall apart "tender" its also dry as all the fat and moisture goes into the liquid aroudn the meat)
beef has to be medium rare at tops.
i think mabe doing a veggie stew and then cooking the beef seperatly and then slice it into the veggie stew might work though lol.

right now in terms of meat i can do:
beef: must be medium rare or less, or ground
turkey: dark meat or ground
chicken: dar meat, tenederloin or ground (brest tends to be too dry)
pork: sems to agree with me when seared and finnished under the broiler but if its even 1 second over cooked its dead to me lol.
fish: tuna and tilapia

its definatly the what to have with the meat thats the problem...
and i dont like eating th same thing day after day
and i have a problem reheating things because since surgery reheating tends to dry things out...so i cant cook meats then freeze them because by the time i reheat it its over cooked unless i were to partially cook things...

gastric bypass definatly made life cooking for 1 a little bit more...challenging LOL. theres so many thigns that dont work for my system, and most things if there cooked even 2 seconds too long it makes me ill lol.

Oh dear...deer might be a bad idea since it is so lean then. Ya think? It tends to be a bit tough and dry if not cooked low and slow. I hope you can have it!!!!

Yes marinade is your friend!! LOL! I love deer! I can kinda relate to all the issues with the GB surgery. I have to be careful how and what i cook too, but for different reasons. It can suck sometimes :p I sure hope you can have the deer though! It's SO healthy, and totally organic ;)

so woke this morning to a bright sunny, CRISP day lol. ok ok, so its cold and i had to turn the heat back on last night about half way through the evening

i looked over at my shed and it looked emptier this morning than it did yesterday so i think taking a step back when i did helped my brain re-center.
i do still need a large amount of contractor trasbags to get the rest of the loose trash out, and of course need to drag out the couch and figure out what im going to do with that, but looking at it this morning it looks like i actually got somethingaccomplished yesterday lol.

todays plan isfairly simple, have to go into town to pay my gas bill, will stop at the dollar store and see ifthey have any fish nets (i have no clue where mine is) so i can move some of the glowlight tetras into bettas tank, then come home and grooming day for the dogs since i didnt do it yesterday and i need to do a little tidying around if theres time after all that i might get started with the white paint on the trim in my bedroom.
i made a credit card payment today...hoping the next payment (money form the puppies) will almost completly pay it off...*fingers crossed*

then tomorrow its reg the car and cindis

wednesday is clean up

thursday will probably end up being a shopping day, groceries and hopefully the supplies for the rabbit hutches and mabe even the paint for my bedroom...
i realy want to get the rabbit set up done as i told the woman with the rex's that id be looking soetime in the mid of january.

Pinky the local guy who has the runners only has fawns. Just so's ya know. If you want a start on some I can get them easily in trade for you in the Spring. Won't cost you one red cent. Just let me know. I may get some for myself too! :D
