right now its simply a couple of roofing nails with little slits in the vinyl "heavy guage".
once i get some free cash ill pick up a grommet setter and sme grommets so i can make the holes perminent and nice and strong so theres no risk of tearing in high winds.
ive got enough of it to make more when i set up the next set of hutches.
i kinda like the butterflys LOL

yup she said they were pure chins, definatly looked like pure chins too...mabe "giant chins" (chin x flemmish), chins if i remember right ar up to 12lbs but "giant chins" can easily get 16lbs. the male was closer to the size id expect form a pure chin...but the female was a BIG girl lol.
her last litter was aparently 13 kits (12 survived)
OMG. I had no idea. Our chins are probably no more than 4 or 5 lbs, and I didn't think they got much bigger than that. I didn't know they could get up to 12, that is crazy!! 12 kits?! Whoa!!! I know that the rescue we got our two from had a mother and 3 kits that were up for adoption (they had the mother/daughter, and then the 2 brothers as two separate pairs. We almost got the brothers - they were HILARIOUS, and they looked almost EXACTLY alike... both dusty gray).
Crazy!

wel this morning i rewarded mysef for NOT killing the squeeker by having bacon egg and cheese sammich...(usually a sunday treat) she woke up aorund 3:30 am and didnt stop screaming until about 5:30, then the whole process started again at 7am i finally gave up and got up at 8...GAH. she does NOT like sleeping alone lol, and man for a 2 1/2 lb puppy she has a set of lungs on her! even dozer wasnt that loud...

anyway, got up, got everyone fed and fettled, need to clean out the Babbit cage in the back bedroom, baby bunnies are messy lol...

i designed up the plan for the next bank of rabbit hutches...im hoping to make this bank a 5 hole set up, 3 up top and 2 on the bottom itll be the same lenght as the current set up 8ft long by 2ft deep, the upper cages will be smaller units at about 32" long by 24" deep...
this will give me 3 mini buck holes. hole 1 will be thistles house, hole 2 will house a nice holland lop buck (not yet found him) and hole 3 will eventually house a holland x mini rex buck (wholl come out of my own breedings)
the lower level (where the duck run is on bank 1) will be 2 units, 48"long x 24" deep (same size as the current 2) and each will be home to 2 females. Hole 1 will have the 2 mini rex does, hole 2 wil have a couple of nice holland does. eventually ill need another larger hutch to home a couple of the mini rex x holland does...this group will hopefully give me the basis for my line of mini plush.

im also planning banks 3 and 4, at least 2 tractors.

my plan for a doe pen is currently under mental test after playing chase the babbits this morning (i let them out to run around the back bedroom while i cleaned their little cage out, and while out they were increidbly frinedly, comming voer climbing on me ect, but when it came time to put them back in LOL...no so much with the hey keep still while i grab you.
so we'll see what my brain does with this.
it may turn it into something different. it may decide we need the excsersize, or it may decide that money and space would be better suited with mabe a cluster of small pens that i could put an individual rabbit in for a couple of hours every day for grazing, or may even diced that could be the perfect place for raised beds specifically for the rabbits putting their fresh gods right by the cages. the area is partially shaded by 2 very very tall pines so im thinking it would be a good spot for growing greens specifically for the rabbits...
got to play this one through a little.
im also thinking the rabbitry is going to be a good area to put my quail pens too, everything in one area for eas of morning routein. (im planning on doing cortinux quail at some point)

so im going to do some playing with paint layout some various designs of where things can go and decide form there...
my brain does this to me alot, plans one thing, then sitches it up if i think about it too much lol.
the colony appeals to me in terms of natural behaviours....but making it dig proof and ease of catch is definatly a factor, my back doesnt like me as it is and i think chasing rabbits if i ever need to get them, could prove to be quite...well...yeah lol.

in other news, rushed about yesterday getting the rain covrs done...no rain yet LOL
theres some little green specks on the radar comming towards me, but the 2 big bands currently on radar are way above and below my little "x marks the spot"

in other news...
i dont drink enough fluids so i need to buy some kind of one of those water filter pitcher do-hickies...
anyone have experience with them? id rather something i can fill up and stick in te fridge than a one glass at a time kind of set up...so im thinking the pitcher with the filter attatched is a better choice, but they do make the ones that go onto the tap and i could just buy a pitcher?!
thoughts?
I have city water and it tastes kinda yicky...and i cant afford to buy bottled water. im SUPPOSED to drink a minimum of 64floz a day, im getting mabe 16 a day right now...MABE...i need to up it...1/2 a gallon per day minimum...or 3 1/2 gals per week minimum...thats alot of liquid lol.
i need to get back into the drinking more habit...

and on that note, i think im going to to make myself a cuppa green tea.

I've had the kind of filter that attaches to the faucet. Then, when I got a neat new faucet with the built in sprayer, I got a Brita. I liked the Brita better. I had to always keep two pitchers in the frig - one with fresh water filtering, and another with cold, filtered water. I don't like ice in my drinks, and my water was only sort-of cold straight out of the tap :p

Now, I live in an area with fantastic well water (Nestle has several wells in the area that they draw from for their bottled water plant near here - which is actually a bad thing for us private well people :/ ) that comes out of the tap possessing all three C's : Clean, clear and cold!

its the one thing i compromised on on this house was a well...its something one day should i magically fall upon a large amount of money id like to have checked for, i dont know what the water table is like around here though...
i hate 1: being reliant on the city to provide my water, 2: paying extra for it and 3: whats IN city water...
but with a well unles you can hand crank, power goes out and you loose your water, or thers risks of it running dry ect...
cant win realy lol
i think i might do the britta pitcher then...if i get an 8 or 10 cup i can simply fill it before bed and stick it in the fridge for use the next day (being its only me :)) and i know when its empty, ive reached my daily goal lol.

I've only owned one house with city water & sewer. It chapped my buns that they charged me for it as it came in, then AGAIN as it went out! Errr! Wells are not cheap (as I keep finding out :p ). We've put one in new, on a property that had nothing, and recently redid the one at this house. Both were 120+ feet, which was painful. Inlaws put one in in the next county - 30 feet! Of course, I can have a basement and a normal septic, and they couldn't ;) There are a FEW properties around here that have artesian wells - man I wish I had one of those! :love

I've been using a Brita picher for years, and am quite pleased with it. Our water (if I can believe the annual report the water company sends out) is quite good - contains the things it should, and doesn't have much or any of the things it shouldn't - but it smells too much of chlorine. The filter gets rid of that. I find that it filters through fairly rapidly - I can make 2 pots of tea in quick succession, filtering a new pitcher of water while the kettle is heating the first lot (DH and I drink different teas in the morning ). As you like your water 'fridge cold you might want to consider getting some sort of 'fridge pitcher to pour the filtered water into; that way you won't be mixing the cold and room temp. water together, and will always have enough filtered water. That way, also, if you choose to use filtered water for cooking and tea/coffee (as I do) you will have room temp water, and won't need to heat the 'fridge water up from cold. Or, maybe, get two of the Britas, but for just you that might be more than you need.

Cute bunnies! :love
