:woot on the weight loss!

My MIL went through the surgery, (and followed the Dr's directions, which so many who have it seem to fail to do :/ )and is less than half the person she once was too! She did say she wished she'd done more toning exercises throughout the process, and she said that - around the two year mark - her skin became more susceptible to bruising/tearing? Not sure what she could've done to prevent that, but she was in her 50's when she had the surgery :hu

Have fun today, playing in the dirt

SS in terms of the skin, when you loose that mgiht weight that fast theres not much you an do to help it, massage and keep it moisturized is about the best advice one can give, but its thin from being stretched for so long and then suddenly the "support system" (fat) is gone and it just has nothing left to support it making it very suseptible to tearing and bruising.
but those annoyances definatly dont outweigh the benefits, its amazing how different i feel health wise and thats why i did it.
i do agree, many who get this done dont stick to the rules, they say they know its "not easy" but in reality they think its some magic fix and itll all be fine...and it is for the first 6-12 months as the new stomach does its thing...but then as old habits return...people just "dont understand" why theyre not loosing anymore...and "it must be broken" so proud of your mother in law for sticking to the rules! especially being slightly older...the longer youve had bad habits...the harder they are to break!

what is with this wacky weather?
i had to get up in themiddle of the night last night and turn the heat to medium, even tucked up in bed with my comforter and blanket and 2 cats as heating pads i was cold...
gotupthis morning and the house is comfortable so i turned it back to low, but whent to check onthe buns and we had ice in the bottles...everyone got fresh warm water and food and an extra handfull of hay for the day and are fine...but seriously it was in the 60s only a few days ago...

its 36 degrees out there right now. rain forcasted on and off oall day. weekends suppsoed to be dry but cold then possibly ice pellets on monday...but get this, back up into the 60's by mid next week...CRAZY i tells ya! crazy!

ran out of oatmeal this morning so im semi debating a trip into town a little later on...might wait through, ive got plenty of bacon and about 8 eggs to go through before i can consider myself out of breakfast foods LOL. i do enjoy my oatmeal though LOL.
ill probably wait and go in on sunday if i need to pick up anythign else, seems silly to go all that way just for some oatmeal...mabe if i needed milk too...

Which means today will be a totally LAZY day of doing not much at all...itstoo gcold for me to be puttering around outside, and im too poor to be driving to random places just because i can...
So ill probably just make a wish list of all the frut i would like to put in the ground this year to get my orchard started...
im hoping to get a start pretty much "now" and then expand each year with a few more trees...

so yeah...thats pretty much all i got right now lol

On your terrific weigh loss! We have a good friend that had "lap band" surgery, he lost more weight on the diet he was on before they did the surgery, than after. He obviously is not following any kind of weight loss program. And now he is just as big as before. Very sad to go through all that for nothing.

thanks...
ive got a few aquaintences like that.
1 got the full bypass...she said she "knew" it wouldnt be easy but 2 weeks out of surgery aparently the dr had her eating chicken parm and drinking sugar free iceies form 7/11 yeah way to change your habits...
shes now a little over 1 year out and has only lost 38lbs total...her dr has put her back on "liquids" for 2 weeks to try and jump start it cause he "cant figure out whats wrong" wouldnt have anythign to do with her talking about how she had fried chicken for dinner, or "ate a huge slice of icecream cake, feel sick now but it was so worth it"

then they complain that it "didnt work"

obviously theres the select number of cases who fail simply because their bodies are just not wiling (in these cases i wonder if things like gluten intolerances, certain protein intolerances and not getting enough good fat play a part) but for the most part, those that fail do so because they dont follow the rules and dont listen to their new stomach...
its like having an alien lifeform in there...you have to develop a brand new relationship understanding all the new language, what it likes and doesnt like...Henry can be quite finniky some days and others not so much...its my job as henrys host to pay attention to those needs and react accordingly LOL.

they say they "know" its not easy...but in reality most who get these kind of surgeries go into it thinking itll be a peice of cake...literally!
such a shame.

the biggest risk for me is going to be keeping it off...being constantly aware of slipping back into bad habits and such...i eat when im bored and i eat for comfort so im hoping having the homsetead and as it expands ill be alot more busy on a day to day basis, that the boredom eating will be eliminated...so then its just avoiding the comfort eating...

Comfort foods are my big hang up too! I used to eat from boredom but have, over the years trained myself not to. I find that people - especially family - are very enabling of my comfort food problem. The day of the accident, I had weighed myself and was 18# over my goal weight. Today, I am 54# over my goal weight. I have only myself to truly blame but, instead of seeing me sad, my family shoves food in my face. I guess they figure a temporary sugar high is a good replacement for the drugs I refuse to take :hu Not to mention I can bake a cake, just because, and polish the whole thing off myself. Now, I see my bad habits being reflected in my youngest, and it makes me try harder to stop. Wish my comfort foods were carrots and celery sticks!
