Can't say that I blame you on that one! If I hadn't had to come to work today...I'd still be in my jammies!

another cold one...
was stuck in my house this morning...
Only until I managed to get the back doow thawed but yeah my back door froze shuts...
theres also ice IN my house on all the windows that had the curtains closed (YAY for thermal curtains since they are obviously keeping the heat in and away from the windows) and ON the walls...
see the house is lacking insulation and there are spots on the walls that might as well be filled with ice they are so cold.
my heater is ventless gas, and the downside with ventless natural gas is they produce ALOT of water vapor as a byproduct...without a dehumidifier the place gets kinda moist when the heats on all the time...lots of warm moisture in the air, hitting cold windows and walls = lots of condensation...condenstation sitting on cold windows and walls WILL freeze so I had igloo walls and windows in some spots today.
the house itself is quite comfortable, not run around nekkid warm, but a sweater and socks = comfortable type temp range.
but im NOT looking forward to the heat bill for this month...
especially since the past 2 winters ive had energy assistance for the winter, they pay the small electric bill which frees up the extra $30-$40 a month it usually costs for the extra gas for winter heat...
for whatever reason this year I don't have energy assistance (nothing changed and I was the 2nd application in at our local office (literally the morning they started accepting aps), I didn't even get a letter of denial or anything...hich means my budget is currently running $40 more a month than usual. (and that's before this cold snap, iveNEVER had to run my heat this high for this long straight before....usually itll get turned to medium for a few hours in the morning to take the overnight chill off and then back down to low to tick over the rest of the day and the house is perfectly comfortable...

oh well...not much can be done.

not sure if ill do much today, I realy should go to the store, pick up dog and cat food and some groceries...but its COLD...
do need to take warm water and feed out for the critters before I do anything else, but after that ill probably end up making the run up to Jackson...mabe

well I decided not to go grocery shopping, ill probably do it tomorrow, or Thursday (probably Thursday as I realy need to get some cleaning done tomorrow in time for trash on Thursday..)
its just too cold.

gt someone supposed to be coming later to buy the 2 goosey girls, I HATE to sell them, but Ive not bene able to find a guaranteed male pom locally for them and I don't want to breed mixes...so rather than take them all the way to nj and mabe still not find a male to go with them I placed them for sale and it looks like weve got a nibble. *fingers crossed*
this is especially good given witht he cold im going through feed like crazy and poultry is one of the more expensive feeds...
the money form these 2 will also buy 2 bags of rabbit which im going to need since ive gone through about 40lbs in a week (I usually go through 100lbs a MONTH...) im feeding extra to help everyone keep their body temps up.

I did get word on the health certs.
SHOULD be $20 for sage, and then $32 for each of the goats ($20 for the cert + $12 for the breucellosis test)
not as painfull as I thought.

I contacted the lady looking for A Nubian and told her id sell Lilly and Poppy ONLY if she took them together and the price was FIRM....if shell give me full asking price ill sell both Nubian girls, if not however the health certifiates are cheap enough that ill find a way to get them to NJ, I don't REALY want to sell them, but I also need to save as much cash as possible right now...

im going to be taking a look at goat breeders in the area around where mum and dad live and see what breeds are fairly available...and then make some judgment calls on which direction we'll go form there (ie sticking to pure Nubians, or going Nigerians and F1 mini Nubians...either way im thinking we'll probably run 3-5 does

so yeah...all kinds of crazy around here, having numbers for the certs is a big help though, I was worried about costs. only issue now will be getting them to the vet, as she said that would be easier...will have to see if i can borrow a truck/trailer closer to the time
but we'll see...
ive got at least a good 8 weeks to figure thigns out LOL!

Wow- things are happening pretty quickly. In some ways 8 weeks sounds like a long time, but in other ways it sounds like it's just around the corner!

Don't blame you for not wanting to go outside. I didn't want to either. At least it is supposed to start warming up.

well the girls whent home there going to be living with some pom x embden mixes, people seemed very nice. so its 2 less mouths to feed...that means my poultry feed will go a lot further too....from 4 cups a day down to 2...

I know right, 2 months seems like a wile...until you realy think about it and its nothing!

I know, its going to either go by suer fast or drag like crazy.

need to fgure outwhens going to be the best time to dig up all my raspberry canes, gonna pot em up and take them all with me...
want to dig up and take my climbing roses and knock out roses too...
theres a few other plants ill probably take too so got to plan those sine I don't have anywere safe to put them fter they've been dug up and potted to protect them from the weather.

its warming up here now, rain, got a sheet of ice last nht, but its supposed to reach the 60s by the weekend (then back to th 40s, 40s I can handle though...ill take that over -17 wind chill ANYDAY lol.
haven't heard anything back from the wman interested in the nubbin girls yet, not a problem with that since id rathr not sell them...
but still trying to fiure the est mode of transport, still would prefer to buy a horse trailer or small enclosed cargo trailer or something...but we'll see.

got to fin boxes to and start boxng all the small "keepables" up that im not going to need any timesoon so I knowexactly how much stuff ive got,and how much there Is to move box wise...
