When I opened the chicken coops this morning I found that our bantam hatched 3 of her 6 eggs so far. She wont let me get close enough to take a pic yet
Love to watch a hen & her chicks. They teach them everything!
They talk to them constantly & those tiny chicks are amazingly fast & smart. The learn to scratch & forage day ONE.
My son has a couple Mallard ducks and the hen was setting a nest. Their pen is here on the farm. Last night, at dusk, I was walking back to the house from back fields...heard a lot of duck talk. Went to check and there were about 15 ducklings with the hen. He & girlfriend didn't know they had hatched as they saw none this morning when they fed....had to have been still in nest. Talk about cute! So many, moving so fast...
We have noticed that our turkey poults don't seem to be as "stoopid" as turkeys are reputed to be; I think that they are watching the chickens and learning a lot from them, even though the chickens are not acting like parents to them.
I had my follow up with the hospital today my incision is just about closed the dr said everything looks good. He said once it fully closes I'm good to go just have to take it easy for a few more days after.
