Someone please let me know when the thread gets off conspiracies and back to preparing and protecting.

Thank you

Hey Dac did you see the link I had in my last post. It was kinda informative. I was to the WHO and defined what they call the stages. I thought since our local public schools are on high alert and may be closing I should familiarize myself with it.

I got an email from Simply Living Smart, which I think you might be familiar with. I think its an LDS site. They had some good links to sites selling pandemic items. Respirators, sanitizers etc.. I actually just reviewed their list to see if there was anything I might be missing.

It does not hurt to be prepared. I think if others around us are getting sick it's just common sense to stay out of the way. Which may mean sticking close to home for a week. That will be one thing we SS'ers are good at.

The pandemic alert level is at "5", but the recovery rate for the H1N1 flu virus is very good. I am trying to think of something positive to say here. ;)

pandemic alert level

As far as face masks go, if in a hurry, you can go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy respirators in the painting section. They will probably say on the label that they are not intended for medical use; but in my opinion, they may provide better protection than those flimsy face masks we see people wearing in Mexico. The N95 respirators that I have (designed for medical use), I ordered online.

I just hope that out of all of this that maybe people will learn a few important things about what they should always do when they are sick. 1. Stay home until you recover (or call a medical professional if you are really bad off), 2. Cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze, and 3. Wash your hands when appropriate. Common sense stuff, but so many people just ignore these things. :p

Well, I for one reserve judgement on whether or not this is a conspiracy (a planted pandemic), but I do keep my mind open to all the details and coincidences that I happen to hear about.

I'm so sick of this swine flu! When will we all realize that they will do anything for media and scaring the public. People have constantly said "people have died" that is because Mexico has very poor air quality and the baby that died already has problems. Stop scaring yourself folks!

I'm not scurred!!!! It's just that we don't know about this one. Remember the last swine flu and people got sicker from the damn vaccine than they did from the flu? So far we don't have enough data to decide whether the mortality rate for this one is higher than the regular flu. So no, I'm not scared, I'm cautious and like any good prepper I'm getting prepared for the just in case scenario.

I agree that this may not turn out anywhere near what the media is leading it out to be. I do however want to avoid catching a flu bug that no one has seen before and possibly could be some mutant strain. Where I live it's not a matter of people getting sick, It's how NOT to get it. It's here, we have to deal with it.

I am concerned for my children and my husband who has a compromised immune system due to being a cancer survivor.

Yes, its the just in case scenario. Good way to put it Farmerlor.

Anyways, isn't that what we ss'ers do best. Be prepaired for the unexpected?
