I try my hardest to be accepting of everyone's personal opinions. I have no problem if you want to call yourself a Democrat or a Republican. Personally, I feel I am an Independant Voter with a conservative bent. I cannot/will not blindly follow what either "National Party" tells me. Two of my sisters are very liberal, two of my sisters are more conservative like me. It makes for interesting holidays.

But, I find myself in a quandary. I have been buying my spices from an specific store for about as long as they have been in business. They have a number of spice blends that I regularly use for cooking and I am starting to run low. However, since the presidential election I have been receiving emails almost weekly from this company that are spewing hate for President Trump and anything Republican. They are practically foaming at the mouth about the impeachment hearings and such. I have been deleting their emails as soon as I see that it is another tirade against our sitting president - and they have been having some pretty good sales too..

I am having a hard time placing an order with a company that feels it is necessary to continually instigate the hatred that has gripped this country. My DH thinks I should just ignore the guys personal op-ed and just order those things that I need.
Am I being too sensitive? Am I being a part of the problem by not buying from this company that is going out of its way to offend me and belittle certain beliefs that I hold?

I understand your dilemma. They have a product you want and use, at a good price. If you spend your money with them, you support their hatred. It’s your decision.

Just a quick note that I'm SUPER impressed that this thread has been going smoothly and hasn't been anything reported!

It's so very rare that people can discuss these divisive topics without them going south within the 1st page. Heck, I know I even get pretty stirred-up with stuff that's going on, so my inclination is to not post / engage with it since I can easily get pulled in ;) I guess that's why the majority of active online communities "discourage" political and religious topics.

So, again, great job to y'all on keeping things super respectful!

Have you tried looking online for possible recipes for your blends that you could do yourself? Or maybe there is another source for your spices etc (I know there are several companies). I've been amazed at just how much info is out there; I've only been unsuccessful with one recipe, and that's because it was one of those old, traditional recipes that have dozens of variations- only I wasn't able to find THIS variation, lol.

I remember when politicians ran on a combination of positions: fiscal policy, national defense, and social policy. This crossed party lines. You could find folks at odds over one of the three, but agree on two.

When did things become so almost religiously dogmatic with views based solely on party?

First I am a registered independent. Second I absolutely refuse to do business with any company that spews hate of "A" president of the united states, regardless what my political opinions are or aren't. A company that disrespects the office of the president of the united states of America, does not deserve my business. The United States is a free country, therefore I am free to spend my money where I choose.

I would take my business elsewhere. If our votes at the polls do not accomplish anything, our wallet votes may have more of an impact. In addition to finding another place to buy my spices, I'd let the manager of this store know why he'll not be seeing any more of my business.

Agreed with @CrealCritter.

I find my moral and ethical sensibilities under attack where ever I turn.

I can hear an other thread in the making: Spice blends and master mixes. How bout it, @Britesea ???

Lol, @Lazy Gardener between cooking and medicine, you'll have me posting here 24/7!

I've been moving my business to other places as more and more bring politics into the picture. I know that some of the places I shop probably have different political views from myself, but if they can at least not shove their views into my face I am much more willing to shop with them. Trouble is, it seems like it's getting harder and harder to find those businesses.

I know I'm the dissenting opinion here..... but:

A president that disrespects the office of the president of the United States of America does not deserve My respect.
