Does anyone here use whole wheat flour in their pound cake or twelve egg cakes? Have any of you mailed either of these in Christmas packages? I would love a way to share my bounty of eggs with my grown children but they all live too far to deliver myself.

Don't know so much about the making part of it, since I've never made an actual pound cake, but on the mailing part--cakes are mailed by companies, aren't they? i don't see a reason why you couldn't mail them. Just box them proper? Anyone else with a thought?

Your homemade ones won't have all the preservatives in them....how old are your kids? Will they need to be told to eat them up quickly?

My kids are in their thirties with kids of their own. I would attach an " Open Now" sticker. I know people ship cookies and brownies overseas. I wonder if they arrive in eatable condition. Whole wheat is because my kids don't want to eat a lot of junk food. Any body send baked goods and received feedback?

Are they overseas? I've never sent anything like that to my family - because the mail takes at least 2 weeks to get there.. :gig

No, they are all in the USA. Just keep trying to find a way to share my eggs with them.

GardenWeasel...you gonna share your pound cake recipe?:D
I mail dessert bread and cookies to friends. They open right away and just dig in. The longest mailing time was 4 days.

First I have to invent it. Thanks delia. I wondered if people really got to enjoy them or were being polite after throwing the stuff away. Then start seeing if the ingredients will come together in a tasty way.I am experimenting with whole wheat peanut butter bars this year too. I will post a recipe if successful or cry about it if not.
