Okay, so I know that this is several days late, but some people do actually make pumpkin pie for Christmas too....this year, when I made my pumpkin pies, i added maple syrup to the normal recipe, don't know how much, just decided to add it to it. It cooked up just like normal, but it took longer in the oven. It was fabulous! It brought rave reviews. :)

Bit of a deviation from the original topic, but since you mentioned adding maple syrup to the pie ...

I heard about subbing some corn syrup with maple syrup inpecan pie. It sounded yummy so I tried it. The pie didn't quite set right and tended to leak syrup into the space where pieces were cut out.

But how did it taste?

LOL ... guess that's the main point!

It was wonderful. But, VERY sweet. You could only eat a very small slice. In fact, two bites was about right for me.
