I'm exhuasted!

Today we *gasp* went to what I consider the "city". New Philadelphia, Ohio. :gig Small town compared to Canton or Youngstown, sure, but "city" to us who are used to the small local country town. Mom watched the oldest children, so we only took the baby with us.

We stopped at Staples and picked up the Quit Claim deeds we needed. FIL has agreed to sign one! :weee Then we stopped at TSC to get fence staples that we needed to finish putting up our woven wire with. Plus, found a clothing clearance rack so we both got a new shirt on clearance. I actually got 2. Ernie only wanted the 1. Both of mine have roosters on them :D One says, "Loud and Proud" under the rooster pictured and on the other rooster shirt it says, "The First Alarm Clock". Ernie picked out the second one for me.

Came home, cleaned out the refridgerator, organized new groceries into the fridge, and then we hit the field. Put up one roll of wire. Was that ever WORK! Stretch the wire, staple the wire, stretch the wire, staple the wire...and so on until we got that entire roll up. The kids were cranky the entire time!

Moved my chickens out of the dog kennel run and into the bigger red coop. Put the turkeys in the dog kennel run  We needed to pen them up, as Lance thinks chasing Ernie around and trying to flog him is a great pasttime. Once Ernie threatened to eat him, I knew he had to be penned.

Recieved 8 BLRW eggs in the mail today :ya Half of them will be going under broody BLRW hen, other 4 will be going under broody silkie tonight. :fl That we have a good hatch!

Tomorrow, it's back to working on coop addition.

Uh huh! We'll be seeing him on Tuesday! I plan to hit him with it on Tuesday.

He's also agreed to take Ernie up to see just-released-from-prison BIL and see if we can get him to sign a Quit Claim deed, too. We have a bit of leverage there. While he was incarcerated, he had sent us some certificates from different schooling he had completed and pictures he'd made, etc. and asked if we'd keep them for him until he got out. I've been digging those out and boxing them up. Ernie and his dad will take those things to him. IF he signs the Quit Claim, we'll hand it all over. If he doesn't, well then I'm holding onto it all until he does.

Evil of me? Yes, maybe. But hey, he's guilty (by his own admission) of what he did, and even claims he did it as revenge on his ex-wife! :ep I don't have to be nice to jerks like that. Besides, we've put in a lot here, and if I have to fight dirty to keep it, so be it. My family comes FIRST!

Wow! Lance seemed pretty friendly, but I guess any male can be a problem eventually.....

Were your BLRW in the dog kennel?

How is your "escapee" SpSussex doing? That bird has spunk! :D

Great news about the quit-claim! Hope that works out well for you. I know you will be relieved to have that done with. :fl :hugs

Woke up this morning to find my little 5 lb yorkie having a seizure. I don't keep nutrical on hand for the animals, but knew that karo syrup would work in a pinch. Couldn't find my karo syrup anywhere! :hit So I made a mad dash to the local little grocery and paid a sinful amount for a bottle of karo syrup. Got home, put a bit on her tongue and gums. She licked it right down. Got some water in her, and then I gave her a bath because there were fleas crawling all over her! :barnie

The fleas have been HORRIBLE this year. I've used the stuff from the vet on the dogs, but it's not even been lasting 30 days.

So after her bath, I put another bit of karo on her tongue, got her to drink some more water, and then I dusted her down with DE. This morning she wasn't able to even walk. Now she's moving more, but she's still shaking, not as bad as she was this morning, as she does have more control, but still shaking a little.

While I was bathing her she just cried and cried and cried. My vet isn't open until afternoons, and not sure I'll even take her in once he does open if I'm able to care for everything at home.

One reason I was desperate to get the karo syrup into her is because I found out my kids fed her a TON of cheese yesterday. :ep This little gal is used to having 1/2 of 1 slice of cheese ONCE a week! Instead, yesterday my kids gave her a half a package of cheese!!!!!!! I am concerned she might have been suffering a calcium overdose. That's A LOT of cheese for a little yorkie.

The kids were supposed to give the cheese to Earnhardt and Zoe, both who are near to 100 pounds and used to having cheese. NOT to my 5 lb ankle biter!

So, I figure another 30 minutes or so and I'll rinse the DE off her, see if that helps the fleas that I saw on her. I'm also going to trim her hair, as in her digging, she's matted up her backside pretty badly.

I realize she's just a dog, serves no purpose to the farm, but she's still a special part of the family...and I'll admit to having bawled like a baby this morning.

Ernie bought her for me years ago. She's the ONLY dog Ernie was willing to pay money for, and it wasn't a frugal expenditure. Yorkies don't come cheap! (I've since spent more on buying chickens, but who's counting?)

Lance just has issues with Ernie. He seems to be fine with everyone else.

The BLRW were in the dog kennel, but since I woke up and found all but THREE SpSussex out of the other pen, I decided to switch them up. I moved the BLRW to the pen the Sussex were in and moved the Sussex back to the kennel.

Well, the BLRW wouldn't stay in the other pen, either. So I gave up and moved them all back into the main coop. Put the turkeys in the kennel.

Then, I decided to try ONCE more to put some chickens in the new pen. I moved Kellogg the Welsummer roo and my only Welsummer hen into the pen. THEY HAVEN'T TRIED TO ESCAPE! In fact, last night when I was tucking everyone in and closing coop doors, I found them inside the little red coop!! The hen has already made herself a nest in one of the corners, and Kellogg was sleeping in the other corner. :weee I guess it was meant for them!

So sometime today I'm going to try to put a roost in there for them.

Yes, I'm anxious to have the quit claim deed done!
