Thanks guys. I am fine. I hate to say this, and hope ya'll won't hate me, but as much as I loved little Autumn, I'm not grieving for her like I would have as a younger me. :hide We've had so much animal loss over the last couple of years, I guess I've come to expect it and to take it in stride as part of life.

Do I sound hard hearted?

I gave little Autumn a proper burial, but I haven't cried. That doesn't mean I didn't love her. Honestly, my FIL seemed to take it harder than me. He just stopped in a few minutes ago to ask E a question, and he genuinely seemed heartbroken over little Autumn.

He did help me in a small dispute with E, though. E was adamant "No more house dogs" and wanted me to keep Gracie outside. :smack My FIL aided me in my argument to keep Gracie in the house. I WON! :ya :weee Gracie is a house puppy! Where up until today, E was only allowing Autumn in the house. Very sad for Gracie.

Gracie is very upset with me right now, because I gave her a bath. She hates baths. I towel dried her, but now she's running her damp self all over my furniture and the carpet. I'm glad E went up to his dad's so he's not seeing it

I'm going to be combing her out here in a bit, something else she hates, and then next week, I'm going to take her to the groomers for a puppy cut.

So sorry honey, it is so hard to have to deal with that first thing in the morning....not a great way to start your day. :hugs

Glad your chicks are hatching, though and the door looks good! Can't wait to see the progress of the other coop too, we are currently constructing a hoop house for the broilers. We took inspiration from Becca!

I don't think you're hard hearted at all. Just because you haven't cried doesn't mean you aren't greiving. I think putting her next to the blueberry bushes was a nice touch. She'll be remembered each time you pick berries. And, your son was very brave to help.

Thank you, punkin. It will be a couple more years before my blueberry bushes yield any berries for me to pick.

I checked on Silkie Mama (her name is Mumble from Happy Feet) and the little chick she had hatch over night with the intestines out had died. But, another little chick had literally just hatched! So she still has 6 little babies out there.

It's a cool day today. I'm spending most of it outside working on the floor to the coop addition some more. Also have some potatoes to finish digging before the rain comes in. The kids enjoy picking up the potatoes while E and I dig them, and they turn it into a real contest to see who can grab the unearthed potatoes first

Having a coffee break right now! :caf

My Black Tailed Buff Japanese Bantam Cockerel crowed for the first time this morning. It was the cutest thing! Tiny yellow and black chicken, belting it out as loudly as he could.

I noticed one of my Speckled Sussex hens wasn't acting herself today. Can barely get close to her, but her abdomen looks to be distended, so I'm thinking she may have started to lay internally. :( I'm glad I hatched a bunch of Sussex babies this year! :) I have a really nice pullet coming up out of eggs from bargain in Georgia. She has nice stock.

I'm not ready for winter. I didn't get enough summer!

Wish it would dry out here so I could dig taters. We get these 2" rains about every 5 days or so. I'll bet I have about 6 bushel of potatoes to dig! :hit I'm going to be very upset if they start to rot in the ground because they just don't taste as good that way.

That's what E was concerned about, too. He was afraid if we didn't get them dug up, they'd rot in the ground. We only had one row left to dig. Got 'em up and out of there.

I hope you get to dig your 'taters soon! :)

After we finished digging the 'taters, we got half the floor down to the coop addition, and then it poured down. :he I was hoping to get the floor completely down and tarped before the rain hit.

Showers off and on all day. Hopefully we get some sun to dry some things tomorrow.
