Great coop. Now why are you on the computer instead of setting those post and stretching wire. :D

I know you are glad its done. 2 more doors = 2 more coops which = another trip to the aution which = MORE CHICKENS.:hide

HAHAHAHAHA It started to drizzle rain and get cold, so I didn't go out and finish the run.

No, 2 more doors = 2 more coops which = individual bantam pens for current bantam breeds and storage area. :D ;)

Chad and I want to build something like "The Campbell Coop" on the large coop page on BYC.
I just checked out that coop, it's great! :D

NOT Southern, Ca. :)
I actually have several old panel doors in my garage. They came from the house we tore down. I tried to re install them in the new house for an authentic look. The problem was as the old house settled they trimmed the doors. And not always straight.

We have used 3 and made a large entry bench / hat & back pack bench. The rest are still in my garage. I refuse to get rid of them.. I know I will be able to use them for something.

:D

You're funny...funnier still, I could totally hear you saying that!

I cleaned out the old half of the coop today and the bantam coop. Dusted everything (roosts, nesting boxes, floors) with DE and then laid in fresh straw.

The bantam coop has a rabbit hutch along one wall that is housing 4 rabbits. I want to move that out of the coop tomorrow. Will give my bantams more room. :) Plus, having that rabbit hutch in there is annoying the heck out of me.

After I cleaned the coops, I cleaned out the call ducks pond and filled it with clean water. Boy were they happy! The four foot tidal wave was plenty enough evidence of that! :D

Had re-heated fried chicken and mashed taters for dinner. Watched America's Funniest Home Videos with DH and the kiddos and then tucked the kiddos in bed. Dh and I watched Extreme Home Makeover, and now we're fixing to call it a night and go to bed, too.

We didn't go to the auction of my parent's house today.

Tomorrow is supposed to be another nice day. Hope to get some housecleaning done and finish (I hope) the coop run and maybe do some sewing.

So I'm trying to decide, am I going or not going to the Ohio Nationals. :/ It's November 14 and 15 this year. My DD expressed her wishes to go, and I'm thinking, honestly I am lol but just not sure.

The said the number of registered birds for the show has already surpassed last years 5,000+ birds that were shown. :th

So, I'm thinking about going, and looking for a Bantam Wheaten Ameracauna pullet/hen. This would be my last chance to find one this year, I think. I'm also thinking I'd like to find a nice blue or black BLRW rooster or hen to add some more color to my small flock.

Speaking of my BLRW, I've been doing a lot more reading on them....turns out, most BLRW do not fit the body type for wyandottes...I read somewhere that Silver Laced and Gold Laced wyandottes were both used in breeding for the Blue Laced. So I'm seriously thinking of trying to get my hands on a good Gold Laced that fit the color and type for their breed and using one of my Splash BLRW to cross out to a Gold Laced to try to breed more of the Wyandotte type needed in the BLRW. Yes, I realize, most likely will take years for me to get them where I want them to be, but I think breeding type into the BLRW is important. I need to do a little more research on which should I use, though, a GL Rooster or hen, or would it matter if I'm breeding for body type?

Anyway, that's just my thinkings....

Fixing to wash up the dishes from this morning and making some rice krispies treats for the kiddos.

Sounds like your Bantam Wheaten Ameracauna roo is doing well. I was worried about him when she first started acting funny. Thankfully, whatever got hold of the pullet wasn't contaigous or he was stronger than she was. I bet you are glad - he is one handsome bird!

I made rice krispie treats last week for TR - I hadn't made them in a long time. I had "forgotten" how easy they were.....

I have a book around here somewhere that talks a bit about breeding. But I haven't read it in ages, so I am having trouble remembering what it said.

Yes! He is doing quite well! and he's my morning crower. He puffs his chest out and screams as loud as he can in the mornings! So cute!

Never did figure out what the problem was with my pullet. I've never had another chicken act like her.
