How many chickens are in there? I want to build a shed type coop for our future light brahmas and laying hens and use the old coop for either silkies or crested polish in the spring. What are the dimensions on the addition? I missed it.

The addition is 8'x8'. When we tear down the original half and rebuild it, the total building will be 8'x16'. Ernie's already talking, though, about expanding it later to be 16'x16'. We designed it so that adding on would be simple. :)

Sounds to me like you could end up with a poultry barn, girl! ;)

I think E just wants his own coop room to house his precious GL bantam cochins. :gig And you thought he was suggesting a 16x16 coop for YOUR birds.

What is done looks very good! :thumbsup

I think you're on to something there! I read your post to E and he almost busted a gut he was laughing so hard.....then he got this little glint in his eye....so if he hadn't already thought of it, I see the wheels turning now...........

It rained nearly all day today. I hate rain.

Went to town and picked up animal feed and some groceries.

Local friend has some tile that she's laying in her coop, big square tiles. Said she doesn't need them all, and she offered me whatever I need to put on my coop floor FREE!!!! :celebrate So, now I just need to find some glue, pick up the tiles, and I can start laying the floor!

It's nice thick tile, too, so should hold up well! :ya

good deal on the tile! Chad thought I was crazy to suggest putting vinyl in the coop floor and now he is sooooooo glad we did. Makes cleaning up so much easier! Can't wait to see pics!

How big a coop do you think I would need for a dozen standard light brahmas? Figured I would pick your brain since you've had them before. :D

I would think an 8x8 coop with a good sized run would house 12 Brahmas :) Course, Bigger is better when it comes to coops

My other coop is 9x12, and it housed 25 hens easily enough.
