Cold is on the Right, Hot is on The Left
We're down at the neighbor's getting our hair cuts - ok, E's getting his cut, I'm getting a trim. Court is next week, so we figured we'd look presentable....no sense going in looking like the hillbillies we are!
The dogs at large were fenced for a few days, but the word is that they were loose again today. Dern neighbors.
Buckeye Veal stopped out today and brought us the blank contract we need to turn into the mortgage company. The contract they presented to us is for loose housing. Pay is $3 per calf a week, with checks mailed every two weeks, plus if the calves meet the weight quota at the end of the growing season, we get a $4 per calf bonus check for the entire growing season. Then, we will also be paid 50% of the profits from the shipment of calves. So if profits are $30,000 (and that's probably a low number after what some of the Amish have told us they've made in profits) then we'd get a check for $15,000.
We figured that's decent and we can't complain!
I'm also considering adding Black Java chickens to my flock....because well, I found out that they are the second oldest chicken to originate in the US (the Dominique being the oldest) and they are HARD to find! Every hatchery i've talked to has mottle java's but not black - except Strombergs - so I'm thinking I may order....
I said I'm thinking!
lol
eta: oh, and I'm soooo over winter!
