Cold is on the Right, Hot is on The Left
We do have a humane society, but when we asked about getting help to spay both cats AND our dog, they told us there are no funds available for helping individuals spay/neuter. Our county is just too poor.
Our county's humane society will not even TAKE cats because they have a barn full of like 80 cats I think? They said they can not afford to take in anymore cats - they only take dogs and horses.
Here's a story for you:
Elderly couple found 2 kittens that their neighbors left behind when they moved. Couple fed the kittens and then called our local Humane Society. The Humane Society refused to come get them. So, Elderly couple drive the two kittens to the humane society and leave them there. The Humane Officer took the kittens to the vet, had them UTD on shots, etc, billed the elderly couple for the vet bill and THEN took the couple to court for abandoning the kittens! I know this is true, because I talked to BOTH parties. We met the elderly couple back when we were still going to the spring for our water - and they told us how it was. So I asked the Humane officer about it at the time - as I was talking to her on a regular basis given we were fostering a million chihuahua's at the time for them. She said, "Dang right I charged them!" She actually had a court date for them and everything and was pressing criminal abandonment charges against this elderly couple!
I am not fostering for the Humane Society here anymore, because they kept promising to bring food for the dogs we had here, etc. and they never did. Then one of the chi's snapped at Baby Boy, and I told her they had to go. They took all but 1, and they said they had no where for the last one to go - and left it up to me to rehome her. They've never once come back and asked about that dog.
yep, I'm done with our local humane society.
I did sign up for a program called Warm and Cozy, but never heard back from them. They assist with spay/neuter, shots, and make sure any outside dogs are supplied with new dog boxes if needed, and straw for bedding. Requirements are you must have 2 dogs or more, be low income, or have multiple children (I think I qualify there lol).
We are hoping we can get at least our redbone coonhound spayed before her next heat cycle. We'll see though.
