It's been raining all day here so I can't go out and work on the yard so the dogs and I have been spending today relaxing. I normally try to do that on Fridays anyway. During the summer it is my gardening day so I'm trying to get back into the swing. I always aim to have all housework done except vacuuming - I have to vacuum everyday to stay on top of the dog hair. I really should read my new book (The SoapMaker's Companion) but I've been comparing prices on line from different suppliers for oils and stuff for my cold process soap, I think I may make it on Monday. I'm also waiting for a lady to show up, she is buying my fish tanks and stand. It will be nice to get those gone and have a little extra cash from them to put towards my soap supplies. I have done some laundry today and I potted up some viola seedlings. I still have to do the chives but I ran out of soil, it's actually some wonderful compost, so I have to go to the dump and get more. Otherwise it's been a nice quiet day around here.

I'm sorry, Bee, that does sound especially rough. But I imagine you probably light up her (his?) day. You are strong, so I have no doubt you are doing a great job, but yes, you need to take time to recharge . . . time in the sunshine and time to tend to the growing green seedlings . . . how is that going? That is what keeps me going when things are kind of glum . . . the life I try to foster around me.

Pam -- funny I should assume you were making shirts! I suspect then you are using Hawaiian fabric to make those cute outfits for your girls. I will have to see any photos you might post of the finished products! Your daughter seems to enjoy modeling. :)
I am using a Flamingo fabric. 4 yo DD has a flamingo purse to go with the outfit too that I found at the local consignment shop for $3.

FarmerDenise I'm with you! When I was young and single I worked on horse farms and I loved it. I worked with horses all day and went and was at the barn with my own horse during all free time. Once we got married and started to have kids, I switched to office work. I hate it. My dh calls me an employment butterfly.. I have a hard time staying at a job, I hate being inside behind a desk or stuck behind a cash register. I much prefer to be out in the garden or out in the fields with the dogs working sheep. Right now I'm looking for seasonal work but most places want to higher teenagers or college kids. Which is okay cause it gives me time to learn soap making and grow my plants for the season, which the extras I'll sell. The secret goal is to make enough so that dh will not mind me staying home fulltime.

FarmerDenise -- My feelings exactly! I did not follow the career path of my degree because I did NOT want to be stuck indoors all day. NO WAY!

breconbcs -- Sounds like you are having a relaxed and productive day . . . I love it when it works out like that! Are you just getting going with soap? Sounds like a good hobby and potential business. :) I soooo hate it when I run out of potting soil! :rant
I have been considering working more hours, but staying home to garden and do other things can be just as important some times. Wishing you success in working from home! :)

Pam -- Cool . . . awaiting photos!

breconbcs---I hear you, girl! I, too, have been a job hopper for various reasons...one of which is that I hate the environment of nursing. Indoors all the time, working with lazy, non-compassionate co-workers, ignorant supervisors---you name it, I hate it all. I love the patients. If I could have one without the other, it would be heaven!

Even then, my first love is farming. I will never be satisfied until I'm on the land full time. :(

This job is the closest to what I prefer in nursing. Driving around the beautiful countryside all day, communing one-on-one with the patients and bringing some kindness and understanding to their day. This is a job where my work performance stands alone and the only person judging it is the patient, their family, myself and God, of course. I'm not painted with the same brush as the nurses who don't care about anything but their paycheck. This, I can deal with and enjoy! :)

I had several people who were supposed to come out this weekend and buy some of my tomato, pepper and herb plants but now it looks like we'll be having a blizzard. Oh well, it's nice to have the house all cleaned and my grow room all swept even if it's just for us to bum around in and watch the snow fall. I do love it when it snows because that's a chance to bake and cook-fixin' to do some bread and maybe can some soup.

I pop on here off and on all day. :p

Today it has been raining off and on all day so kind of stuck in the house, other than when I ran out between the drops to do the feeding and watering.
