I planted Caseload peas today - I'm excited to get them in in March, usually I can't get out there until early April. Didn't plant the sugar snaps because they like it a bit warmer. I am still waiting for two varieties from Pinetree, I don't know what's holding up that order :/ Gardening season has begun, though! Now to get that fence up before they eat everything that sprouts

Cool! I should plant some Tuesday in honor of my Grandfather who always planted his peas on St. Patrick's Day!

Well, the big St. Patrick's Day parade in South Boston was held today, so I figured this was close enough ;) That's the saying around here, plant on St. Patty's Day and have peas to go with salmon on the 4th of July!

Raised beds drain first, so I can usually get a jump on it provided it hasn't been too cold, which it hasn't. Planted some Emu spinach, too. I need more soil for my beds, hopefully hubby is going to get me a load for an early b-day present!

My veggies grow on the slope behind the garage, terraced and south facing. Except for the tall trees on the east side which cast a lot of shade it's an ideal spot. It does drain very quickly compared to the rest of the yard.

Long time no post. Well, those peas are up, and two more batches have been planted and sprouted. We'll have a nice long season of peas around here!

Lettuces are also in, radishes will be ready next week, spinach, too. The asparagus is finally up, although I'm very disappointed with those crowns. I may end up started another row next to that one of a good standard variety like Jersey Giant - right now I've got Purple Passion, they're supposed to be all male (yea, right) and the stalks are wicked thick, like over an inch, no nice, finger sized stalks. Oh well.

Ok, so the good news is there's no cancer in me, the biopsy went well (with good drugs!!) and I'm clear, although I'll be followed every six months until they get tired of squishing me.

Hubby has a new job! :weee He is back at the company he initially worked for when he moved here with me. The owner did some bad things and went to jail and the company went through hard times (as expected!) and had massive layoffs. Hubby went to work for another local company that turned out to be a nightmare. Well the original company has paid its fines and done it's due diligence and now has lots of work (they are road builders) and are hiring. Hubby has been visiting the company now all winter, thankfully his persistence has paid off, he started yesterday. He is a much happier camper now!
