So we went camping over the weekend and just got back yesterday. We went up with one of my friends and her husband and kids. It was a fun weekend and next year we are going for a week. (We want to make it a tradition that on the last week that we can before the kids start school that we go camping.) My friend actually got a good score while we where up there when we got to our camping spot someone had left a tent so she got a free tent out of the deal. (They where using one of mine because they didn't have one.) What we are thinking happened was the people that left the tent got rained out and just left the tent (the fly was on the inside and the tent was collapsed.) We where originally going to take the tent off the mountain and toss it but the tent was in good shape and brand new so we dried it out and they kept it. And now that we are home I get t do my least favorite thing when it comes to camping... washing everything that was taken up there. We also had to hurry off the mountain because there was a storm coming in and we didn't want to get caught in it so the tents didn't have tome to dry out so they are set up in my back yard drying out. 021.JPG 025.JPG 027.JPG 029.JPG 030.JPG 033.JPG 035.JPG 037.JPG 047.JPG 052.JPG

Nice score on the tent.
Looks like you had a good time, very pretty area. Is that in Wyoming?

Camping laundry, yuck. It always seems like everything was dragged through the sand and dirt before being packed up.

We didn't make it to the Big Horns when we lived out there ... :( DH did for work, but I wanted to take our camper and tourist it, just never made the time to do so.

DH got to drive through the canyon from Shoshoni to Thermopolis also, but that was for his work and I didn't get to go. I worked on a design for road construction through there and always wanted to take that route.

It's a beautiful drive but if you come up our side on 14A It will destroy a vehicle if you don't know what you are doing. I have been behind multiple tourist that have burned up there brakes and seen R.V.s and big rigs puled off the mountain when they try to take them up there. (Its at least a 10% grade or that is what is posted but its a lot worse.) The Sheridan side and the Graybull side are a hole lot easier on a vehicle.

So many people don't know how to tow in the mountains. My Dad says: go down in the gear you went up in. Let the transmission do the work, not the brakes.

everyone is always in a hurry, and trying to get there as fast as possible instead of just enjoying the ride

So we got a baby doll for my little man so he can practice holding his little sister when she gets here. His reacton when we told him it was for him and not for Aubrey was priceless. He kept saying "but we got it in the girls section".
