Chili Time! (just missing the beans.) So I was volunteered by Ron to make chili for the guys he works with. Ron came home one day and told me that he told the guys at work that I would make them chili ( I needed to make a double batch because they are big boys and I want some.). I had no say in the matter not that I care I love cooking anyway. So yesterday we went to the store to get the ingredients (I am never going to the store we have in town to get the ingredients for my chili again it cost us almost $100 for a double batch.) So I go over to the produce section to get what I need from there and Ron was getting the beans and such. I have learned my lesson about letting Ron get the beans alone. The recipe calls for Chili beans and Ron got Chili with beans. They are in two different parts of the aisle and I have told him exactly where they are before. To add to this Ron has worked in restaurant kitchens for years he should knot the difference. I didn't notice this until I started cooking this morning and Ron is at work and my wallet is in his truck so I cant go get what I need till he gets home this afternoon.

Looks good! But...nothing is cheap these days!
It doesn't help that we only have one grocery store in our town and the owners are greedy. I hate that store and try not to go there if I can help it.

It's my chili recipe that every one loves but I decided to play with it and see if I can improve on it. I roasted the peppers and onion and switched out half of the ground beef with ground deer (mostly to save money because meat is expensive.) I also never use measuring spoons when I use spices (I'm lazy and it means I have less dishes to wash) so whatever I make is a little different every time.

I cook the same way! I've started roasting onions before I use them in a lot of dishes - it really does bring another level of flavor! I'll bet your chili is a HIT!

So the chili was a hit. The only thing they didn't like was the celery in it. So next time I need to remember to cut it smaller. (they will never know ) I think I'm going to make them chili once a month in the cold months.

I also have a friend that I'm going in with on starting a bakery. With that I need to test out my recipes on someone. My thinking is to send what I make out to work with Ron.

It was vary tempting this morning to call the school and tell them that silas wasn't going to be in school today. I did not want to get out of bed this morning and it didn't help that my little angel decided to wake up at 5 this morning and not go back to sleep.
