I think I might have a broody duck! Last three times I checked them, the same one is sitting on the nest. Of course this is after I removed six eggs because Ginger stepped on one when she was raiding the coop and broke yolk on the remaining eggs. I washed those eggs and put them in the fridge. I'm thinking of putting them back out there now. They have been in the fridge two days, but our outside temps are very similar to the temps in a fridge. Six duck eggs are actually quite a bit of food and I have a buyer, but I don't think I want to sell eggs that were sitting outside that long anyway. So I think I'm going to put them back out there.

Person coming to look at Donald either today or tomorrow...I need to tidy the place up. Where the snow is melted, everything looks knocked over, plants mashed, and all kinds of little surprises are popping up ......like shurds and trash. I still have little piles of snow.

I see where I planned the garden is not the warmest spot, as different areas are clear of snow. I think I'm going to use the NORTH side of my house by the woodshed.....which I thought would be too shady. But I think it would be handy to have the plants growing there as it is close to my kitchen. I still haven't talked to hubby about it, but it seems like the areas where snow has melted must be the warmest and sunniest. My seedlings are sprouting!

Molly was a very good girl with the milking this AM and Ginger is her normal self with a sleek belly again. I sure appreciate all the help I got here.

They are taking him tomorrow! :weee

They seemed really nice. They have small kids. He should be awesome with that....he is exceedingly tame and friendly. Should be a very rewarding little pet for them. They were charmed at his small size. Their other goat is a full sized nubian.

He was being a real good boy, really cute, showed his best side. He really is a nice goat. A part of me will be sorry to see my friend leave, but I have said goodbye to so many animals, this isn't new territory for me. And I know he will be in a better situation for him, same as when the dogs leave. He will be going to a good life I've found for him, with friends and proper housing. And we are making what we paid for him back, and in return for our care, he taught us about goats.

And I will no longer have a GOAT in my face at the back door, knocking me off the ramp as I try to get the chickens their food or putting his nose in my tea. And best of all our food bill should go down considerably for the goats, and I no longer have to worry so much about the darn wether getting too much grain, considering he was always the biggest pig.

I think my new rule around here with goats is GIRLS RULE. :thumbsup

Congratulations on the broody duck and the goat sale. Yes, it is nice to have only females around. But I have to admit that I do love my bucks. :D

Well, Donald is a wether........

And the two intact bucklings are from sisters. I would not think I'd want to breed them back to their aunts, so they gotta go too.

Hopefully your duck will get some broody vibes going. I need some too :D I am leaving eggs in a dog house filled with fresh straw to see if I can entice one of the girls to set a nest. Only 1 did last year, but they were still practically babies.

She is still out there. When I go out tonight to close up shop, I'm going to put those eggs under her, too, and anything that was layed today by the other hen. Gosh, would this give me easter ducks?

Our television is our alarm, although I don't hear it, but we started using it when I needed to wake up because the light wakes me. So this morning it comes on at 4:30 for Hubby as usual and he is snoring away, I jerk upright in bed when the TV is flashing Tsunami warning Oregon. I'm like WHAT? We are closest to Portland, Oregon so we always get Oregon news, not our own WA news. We are not anywhere near the evacuation area, but we certainly know where they are talking about, we are one county east. I say the word "Tsunami???" and hubby has no problem jerking awake. It looks like it is hitting right now, too.

But it makes me mighty thankful to be me this morning. I've seen some horrific footage since awakening, it reminds me a little of the morning I woke up to 911... such horrific news on a wide scale.

Mt St. Helen's eruption will be the natural disaster where y'all can wonder how I am.

Praying, praying..........they are coming for Donald in an hour and a half but I don't think I'm going to manage to get too worked up about it....

Glad you aren't in the tsunami path. It is just horrible.

I don't feel bad when goats leave. They are going to good homes and the people obviously love them.
