Does she chew her own nails?

My D1 has a Pitt Bull/Pointer mix that is little miss happy-all-the-time, named Brian. She is not too much a nurse with people, but she is in charge of cleaning all of the animal's eyes, ears, noses and wounds. She will lay down and carefully chew her own nails to keep them short and my D1 has even seen her chewing the other dog's nail from time to time.

Maybe your nurse dog thinks those clippers are going to hurt the other dogs? She might have had a bad experience with one as well.

Animals are so interesting. People think I make up some of the crazy things that I have seen animals do. Like the Malcolm story on my thread. It is just too weird for words.

I took ASL in school as well. I actually still have my book packed somewhere. Goes to show I never throw anything away.

It came in handy. I used to speak to a few restaurant customers. They got a kick that I knew "cheeseburger".

SD I think a service dog would be so great for you. What a great idea!!

I think I need that little heeler....but I don't know how to bring it up to Hubby.

Farmfresh, she does bite her own nails. We have a very hard time doing hers. She has had a bad experience, she is extremely hard to do a nail trim on. I have to have two helpers. And the helpers need to be brave! I'm VERY sure she thinks those clippers will hurt the other dogs. If one of them yips during the nail trim she gets even more excited and upset. She also cannot tolerate fireworks or gunfire. But I know if anyone is shooting on the mountain, she acts in a very particular way and so I know that it is going on. Bindi Jo is sort of my service dog already in a way.

I also have four other dogs that are extremely protective. I'm never worried about anyone coming and attacking me or anything like that.

Hubby just came home with an entire truckload of used tires he got for free.

Ah.....I understand now WZ. I was wondering in the middle of the night if you were warning me about eating too many carbs!

Jamie, I'm glad someone enjoys my sense of humor, Hubby thinks I'm strange!
